13B N/A Clutch Question.

After doing extensive research I havent gotten much feedback on my question. I have an 88 GXL RX-7 13B N/A. My clutch has been slipping for sometime now but its on its last straw now & dont want to get stranded on the side of the road. Im only making 150hp. Taking that into consideration what do you guys think about the F1 clutches? I was thinking a Stage 2 or 3 kit with pressure plate, im kinda strapped for cash so im trying to get something cost effective. If any users have feedback that theyd like to share with me would help a great deal. Thanks in advance.

If you're not boosted, just get a Kevlar clutch (usually stage 2). They'll last close to forever on a NA 4 cyl car.And if you are tight on money thats the way to go they last long and you can save to buy you better one when it goes out which will be awhile so really you can buy you a dam good clutch. :D

I had an F1 stage 3 clutch and light flywheel on my sr car making like 330whp, and it surely started slipping after like 1,500 miles and 3 events.

I have an f1 clutch in my ls1 car. Its been fine.

You just made my decision for me...Im sure your putting down decent number on an LS1 & if your F1 clutch holds up to that, im sure itll hold my little 150 hp...Thanks for the insight fellas. Greatly appreciated.

yeah I got whatever one comes with the 6 puck metallic disc. It's probably been in there a couple thousand miles now, and like 2 drift events, but you don't have to clutch kick with ls1 haha. It has gripped good enough to break a couple axles.

any of you guys ever use an xtd clutch ? i had 1 in my corolla and i held a pretty good beating but i mean im talkn bout a 70 to 80 hp 4ac engine. I jus recently put a stage 3 xtd on my 89 hatch but havent had the chance to beat on it yet. so yea anybody use 1 leme know what you thought of it.

Bro, just get a stage 2 tops on a 13b n/a.. I have a TII drive train on my 13b n/a and got an upgraded disk on a stock replacement PP from ACT and shit rides like a champ, 25k ish miles 3 events and no issues. Given it's a TII clutch on a n/a engine, should probably be comparable to an n/a stage 1.5 - 2. The 13b n/a wont make much more power than what you are pushing out now, and if you buy a good stage 2 clutch you will most likely never have to replace it for the duration of your ownership of the vehicle, unless you cant drive. Ive only gone with ACT and OEM clutches on my 7, so I can't really tell you anything about the quality of the other brands, ACT is good as fuhh, but I bet the other brands make good shit too...

Haha I feel you on that one, when u have the power and torque on demand like that, theres no need to clutch kick...If u dont mind me asking how much power are u making?

if im not mistaken dude xtd and F1 are the same company, they just use different colors for their products lol. Red and blue.

Werd, yea i dont usually cheap out on something like that but im so strapped for cash right now its ridiculous. I usually use Exedy, I had 2 exedys on both of my 1J supras back when. But i figured since im not makin much power @ all Id go out with this F1 shyt and see how it holds up.

Yea im pretty sure they are. Prolly cuz the F1 pressure plates are naturally stiffer i would guess hence ther stiffer pedal feel. I dont mind the stiff feel im used to it, my current clutch is stiff.

whatever you get, make sure it's the metallic disc if you're gonna drift it. That way you don't have to worry about it. My car probably makes like 330whp or somewhere around there.
