hey ppl, well from one day to another my car didn't want to start. So i thought it was the starter, so i bought a new one and still does'nt turn on. Now if i push start it, it turns on fine with no problems. So, i'm thinking it's something elertrical, the starter has two connections. One from the battery and another connecter. The starter is getting the 12v from the batt, now i got my test pointer and put inside the connecter and had my brother turn the key to see if the test pointer would light up when he turned the key but got nothing. So, for the last week or so i've been push starting the car...need help!!!!....thanks...

Does the starter turn on at all? Did you wire it correctly? You can test if it actually works by just touching it with wires straight from any car battery. Eliminate that from your list FIRST then move on and see if its a ground, power wire, fuse, relay, short etc.

check your coil

Answers like this make the world go round.

yea i cheked all my fuse's, the starter doesn't turn at all, it only has two connection which there all connected right...i turn the key and i don't even get a tick....

i've been looking for the relay..but can't find it..Now i know it's a blue one and it's under the hood... but i'm looking at the fuse top where it tell's you what is for what, but it doesn't say anything about a starter, do they use a diff name...? thanks.. 95 SE

Run a power straight from a battery and CHECK IF THE STARTER ACTUALLY WORKS.

Check if the little plastic tab is still on the clutch pedal. Press it in with your finger and try starting it. I know thats happened to a ton of people.

wat happens sometimes is that the contacts on the ignition switch goes bad. if the relay is good and you can here the solenoid on the starter move back and forth when you try to start then your problem is the switch. i had this problem on my car and i just put in a push button in the center console.

check the safety switch behind the clutch, if the starter is new i doubt that the holding wires in the solenoid are bad, try running a gator clip from the signal connection on the back of the starter to the battery, check for continuity from the ignition signal wire to the starter solenoid....
