ok so heres my questions,

1- the left timing chain guide, after torquing it down to specs, is it supposed to be loose and are u supposed to be able to move it from left to right without having to apply too much force, or it is supposed to be kinda tight?

2- when installing bearings and checking clearance with plastigage, if it's too big, or too small, is that due to the bearings, or to over/under torquing the bolts?

I've never seen anything loose in the timing chain area, let alone a guide. I think it's supposed to be nice and tight. lol. Or are you talking about the tensioner? As far as the plastiguage, if after you measure it's too wide then you would need a smaller bearing cause it's too tight. If it's too thin then you need a bigger bearing cause there is too much space. The torque should always be the same, and there should be no debris/oil/lock tight on the bolts to make sure proper torque is measured.
