Drifting on dirt......

Sean Love

.
So I am in Finland now and in celebration of FDT* plus WRC° this weekend, oh and..........

I just really really really want to go abuse the hell out of a RWD car on these beautiful dirt roads I see everywhere....complete with wonderful jumps (pronounced "yumps" in proper Finnish quasi-english) around turns...I think me and about 5-6 friends are going to buy a car here just for things like:

IOR ¹
RFR ²
SBI ³

* Finnish Driving Tradition

° You are banned for needing the reference for WRC you noob!!!

¹ Intoxicated Off Roading

² Rapid Fender Reshaping (best accomplished by quickly driving automobile sideways near suitibly firm objects eg. large trees, boulders, mountain side,..... however reindeer, moose and friends not recommend due to possibly moving & splattering on windscreen, obscuring vision)

³ Spontaneous Bad Ideas

Here is the car we are headed to buy tomorrow/today (550am here)

1989 Ford Sierra 4door with 280,000km

I other words it's basically a Merkur XR4Ti with 2more doors and about 180,000miles, oh and it costs 100€ (about 135dollars) Split 7 ways so we are looking at like 20each for some insane wannabe TommiMakinen-ing.....

WOOOWOOO

And yes we have video cameras..... let the games begin!!! =)

how the hell do you go to all these different countrys this year, Japan, Germany, Finland. whats next?!?!?!

Biggest expense is usually the plane tickets. Travel with friends to split hotel costs, stay in hostels, sleep in rental cars or bus stations, take overnight trains, busses and ferries, stay with friends, try to stay away from touristy areas, enjoy free stuff, eat less, meet girls in bars and sleep at their place, get rich girls to be your sugar momma.....

Oh and don't forget begging credit card company for more credit and then maxxing it out...... yea... lol

and Guillermo,

Yea, pretty much the whole reason I scheduled Finland for August is WRC, what sucks is I missed Harri over here, he was on vacation here but left friday, I got here monday....

You bitch. That's exactly what I was going to do when I was there in the Army, either a ford sierra or a old bmw. There soooo cheap. Post vids and before you leave, crash it into a tree (that's what I wanted to do).

If you have a car you can RallyCross.

RallyCross Explained.
RallyCross
RallyCross is a timed event that involves solo driving on grass or dirt and has been likened to an "autocross on the dirt." Just like autocross, the emphasis is on driver skill and handling rather than absolute speed. RallyCross is the simplest, cheapest and safest way to experience the thrill of Rally Racing and is perfect starting point for any Rallying career.
RallyCross takes place on a relatively short and twisty course lined with standard traffic cones. Tight and frequent corners generally keep speeds below 45 to 50 mph with runs usually in the 1 minute range.
Each competitor takes turns making their runs. Hitting a cone or missing a turn garners a time penalty. Unlike autocross, final positions a decided by the combine times of all runs so a driver not only needs to be quick from the start but must also be consistent.
SCCA RallyCross events are open to all closed-top production based automobiles.
Convertibles and raised vehicles are not allowed under SCCA Rules.
The vehicles are classed by drive train and modifications allowed
Classes
Stock
This category is for cars that are nearly stock with very few upgrade allowances. A cat-back exhaust and the replacement of consumable items, such as tires and brake pads with street legal replacements, are allowed. The category is further broken down into:
SR Rally Stock Rear Wheel Drive
SF Rally Stock Front Wheel Drive
SA Rally Stock All Wheel Drive
Prepared
Prepared is the category above Stock. All Stock modifications are allowed with the addition of more modification allowances to the suspension as well as the intake and exhaust. Any type and size of wheels and tires are allowed in this category. Prepared is broken down further into:
PR Rally Prepared Rear Wheel Drive
PF Rally Prepared Front Wheel Drive
PA Rally Prepared All Wheel Drive
Modified
This category covers all vehicles not in the other two. Modifications are fairly unrestricted, allowing for any suspension (including any changes in suspension geometry) and the use of any internal combustion engine. Any log booked race car falls under this category. With these allowances this open class is the most competitive class in RallyCross. The category is divided into:
M2 Rally Modified Two Wheel Drive
M4 Rally Modified All Wheel Drive

yeah I want to do some rally cross I know of an old 4wd subaru wagon thats just itching for a good beating.

Turned out the car had a blown headgasket and we never bought it. HAd a bunch of people that were going to split up the cost to make it like $30 each to buy some random volvo, but it didnt happen. I'm going back in the winter and were are gonna drive on the frozen lakes with some beater.

Oh and Tony, you gotta check out european RallyCross and see if Moroso can run the events like that.... I would definitely be interested in building a car then. But it would probably have to be on the dirtbike track, and you need some paved sections between the jumps. I would be more than happy to meet with you in a week or two about the feasability of wheel-to-wheel rallycross.

THATS WHERE IT ALL STARTD IS RALLY, its the best way better to practice on yah skills if u got a car that can take the dirt

Yea, I'd want to build a car if we would do real rally that envolves at least 60mph AT LEAST and little jumps AT LEAST.
