OK damnit people, dont get my thread locked again over petty dumb shit.

Please if you feel the need to address personal problems, then do it directly with each other.

Now I have to cut and paste from the other thread to address a few things.

love: what is the point of this topic tho? there will always be a guy who makes money from being and idiot. look at jackass? they did some of the stupidest things i have ever seen a human capable of...yet they made tons of money off that..just like music...people will make a fake lifestyle and rap about it only to make money...you dont have to grow up in the ghetto to talk about the ghetto... the majority of these rappers live in million dollar houses and still rap about how the ghetto is their home....

I have zero problem with people making lots of money for dumb reasons. It's capitalism and while it may irritate me, anyone is fre to make money by whatever means within industry regulations, and being 'artists' there is no standard of truth or ethics that musicians are held to. The hypocritical people really irritate me, but it is for people to witness and be smart enough to realize that these 'idols' are liars and cheats.

"Caveat emptor" (buyer beware) is one of the most important aspects of a capitalist society, always be aware that someone is attempting to dupe or screw you. I guess more than anything I am expressing my extreme disappointment in artists, fans and the negative social impact it has on kids like my 19yo brother who idolizes Jay-Z.

Agreed. Rap is ridiculous.

Organized sports is beyond my comprehension. It's so big and EVERYONE watches that shit. They're just fucking games. You can play them yourselves. There's nothing that can justify paying a person millions of dollars to play a fucking game. It's gotten so out of hand.

Charge what the market will bear. The fans are guilty of creating the market. No one admires greed but since capitalism is based on greed being the expectation, rather than the exception, it relies on buyer intelligence and ethics.

you're persistant
and i agree with you 100%
music sucks now

NO, I dont think music sucks. I listen to a mix of Rap, electronic, top40, industrial, rock, metal and classical almost every damn day.

Today i also listened to some BBC radio1, and even some country.

I personally like Rap until I hear some dumbass spouting off retarded lyrical feces

No joke, today I got another dose of it that nearly set me off

Young Jeezy- Crazy World:
When I as 14, I turned nothin to a quarter mil,
Probably why I never give a fuck bout a record deal,
And I ain’t never tried this shit, imagine how that white feel,
But that don’t even matter though, tryin to pay the light bill,
Light bill, phone bill, plus my granny nerve pills,
Feel like I should be takin them, imagine how my nerves feel,
I want a new bentley, and my auntie need a kidney,
And if I let her pass her children never will forgive me,

The next verse goes on about, "as this crazy world keeps spinnin, keepin the rims still spinnin"

Some shit like that....

Now seriously, this guy I think wrecked a Lambo not too long ago, he's talkin about a decision between buying a new bentley or buying his auntie a kidney????

Well well well.... where do i begin.

Sean... Bravo to you sir for taking a stand against the mainstream first of all.
I cant agree with you more, those rappers are circus clowns.

But your missing the main problem with the black community that has of late trickled to the whole country, hell i see it every day on this forum.

People have lost the sense of having to work for things, everyday on this forum i see posts like " but so an so is rich" or " comments in general about people with money. Everyone wants the easy way out of everything, its all about getting things as quick as possible with as little work possible, and when people see someone who has it already or it was easier for them, because they made it already and or theyre parent already busted there asses and became succusefull and are now able to share opportunitys with there children that the parents themselves didnt have; the first instict is to HATE on them....

How this applies to RAP and the black community in general is as follows. Rappers have popularized the quote gangster life style of selling drugs, treating women like crap, having kids then leaving them. Everything about rap and almost every song is all about look at me, look at what i got etc. It has become demonized in most of the black commuinity to get good grades in school, stay off of drugs, and not break the law and to blame white people for all their problems, ( see reverend wright, jesse jackson, and al sharpton) . I have friends now that are succusfull and they told me growing up half of them where mocked because they wanted to go to college and be succusefull. The culture of the inner city african american is why this is taking place. Untill we get these people off of welfare things are never gonna change.

Now im not being racist but you cant deny these statistics

1. Today, more African-American men are in jail than in college
2. HIV is rampant among african americans
3. 47 percent of working-age (16+) African-American men either unemployed or not in the workforce.
4. 24.7% poverty rate

Now obviously im not saying all african american people are this way, as statistcly the black middle class doubled from 1998 till 2008 (which of course is a great thing) but as it pertains to the quote hip hop community.

The culture of african americans needs to change as well as many white americans in this country even some of you. Stop worring about what every one else has and what you dont and go out there and get it. Its not easy of course...... to work hard and sacrifice but it can be done.

Flame suit on!!!!

Jerry I hope this stays mature for a lil while so I can reply in the morning or tomorrow, I have to go bed so I can wake up in the morning

i think pretty much all new rap sucks
all its ever about is drug dealing and petty shit
rap was cool when it was about partying and having a good time

wow, this is amazing, I read through your last topics (the two that got locked) and there was nobody getting lowballed, no pptouch, and for the most part they seemed pretty civil.. almost forgot this was sfld...

Everything your saying about rap can be applied to almost 95% of mainstream modern music though, lyrical content as a whole has just gone down the toilet. The fact is their making music to sell music, which is... kinda the point  right? Everyone wants to be successful, so they copy what works. I shaved the antenna off my car along time ago, fuk the radio... If I want to listen to something I DL it, I wont support this system, If its something I really Like Ill go see it in concert, which after all is where the artists really make their money. IMO they should just focus on covers/remixes until they come up with something original to say, cause 99% of "new music" sucks...

Its interesting that you turned this into a discussion about the ins and outs of capitalism and believe its the fans who create the trends in the music industry today. What's interesting is that if you asked an anthropologist his/her opinion on this, they'd tell you that the corporate machine manipulates people into becoming fans of whatever music they want popular at any given time.

Love, i see what you mean now. I too am a bit dissapointed because like yourself many of my friend idolize people like jays. I nwill admit, i see myself listening to less and less music as time goes by.

+1 on jerrys post. I want to see your response love.

Do lean bit towards what tonymac said. I have felt the corporate media has control of whats popupar at any given time

I am really part of the minority with regard to music...i listen exclusively to electronica these days. I pretty much always have though. :/

yeh serious shit tho.. havent listen to the radio since zeta was around... i like to keep it in the late 80's early 90's but there are tons on great stuff from the 70's too.

and most of the time "music" sucks not due to the musicians but do to the money hungry wolves we call record labels. depending on your contract chances are they if you dont fit in the vision that they had for you then a) they drop you making you break your contract or b) you change your style to their "pop" liking and you get paid. ( which is why i prefer underground labels because they let you be the artist that your are. my 2 cents

I see all of your points.
But remember Music is a BUSINESS.
Supply and Demand.
If people are eating this stuff up, then I'm gonna provide it.
You need to turn to POP music, they're even worse.

Your beef with the lyrics, that you posted up,I def can't co-sign that.
Those seem to be genuine thoughts and feelings.
I want a R35 GTR but I gotta pay the bills, damn. (I'm smart enough not to have one, since I can't afford one)
Jayz/Jeezy/TI really did sell drugs, he came from damn near the bottom. He worked and hustled hard to get to where he is today. (not that its right, its just REALITY)
Guess what all people are walking contradictions.
Unless your are the Perfect human being.

I don't know any of you, but it seems like a lot of you are suburban people.
Who have been lucky enough to have not been brought up poor and in the ghetto.
Your parents have done a decent job watching over you and teaching the right things.

But you don't know what it is to be on the other side of the fence.
Everybody doesn't live in the nice suburbs.
Picture this, you have nothing, you live in the ghetto, your parents havent finished HS, they work 2-3 crappy paying jobs to get by, so no one is there to watch you, you hangout in the streets, you see whats going on, the only people making $ is the dude on the corner, you envy what he and other more priviledge people have, so you try to get it easiest and fastest way you can. (Think all of this with the mind set of a uneducated child.)
The story goes on and on from here, but I'm sure you've watched enough TV to extrapolate the rest. (and no I'm not talking about "The Hills" or my big booty wife Kardashians)

Oh yeah. Guess what Racism is still alive, even though its 2010 and Obama is in office.
I've been harrassed by cops because I was black.
Even though I'm probably the "whitest black guy since Carlton Banks".

Yes, there are TONS of stupid people, Black, white, etc etc etc.
Blame it on the man ----> STFU, pick yourself up and better your self/situation
Idolize/lust over $$$, jewelery, materialistic things ---> Not my thing, but fine if you can afford it. PRIORITIES people!!!!

This is America.
You have the right to Hate on anything you like.
EVERYTHING IS PERSPECTIVE.
Think about it before you hate on anything.

I hate rednecks!!! (No, not white people don't get it twisted)
I hate ignorant people!!
I hate stupid people!!!!!!!!
I'm an equal opportunity hater.

Doesn't mean that I'm right, or that I know the circumstances/situations of other people.

There's a lot more.
But i'm getting my work on.
Damn the MAN!!! j/k

idk i just want to be able to say white power without me being called racist. Its fine for a black person to say black power, but if I say white power it means I hate black people (or all other races collectively). What I can't be proud of my lack of pigment.
