Authorities might have their work cut out for them Friday evening when they launch a five-hour patrol blitz targeting a South Florida staple: aggressive drivers.
From 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., law enforcement officers from several agencies will be out on Interstate 75 and the Sawgrass Expressway looking for speeders, tailgaters, motorists weaving in and out around other traffic, and other reckless drivers.
Some of the officers will be in unmarked vehicles, officials warn.
Friday's blitz also will mark the first time authorities will be using a helicopter to follow speeding motorcyclists and help officers on the ground stop them.
The Broward Sheriff's Office, Florida Highway Patrol and more than a dozen local police agencies will be participating in the operation, which they've dubbed Operation "BAD" – Blitz on Aggressive Drivers.
