Lifter

yes you need diferent cams i just dont know what would be a good setup what cam to get ?

its recommended that you run tomei rocker arms and a more aggressive cam. but then it needs retuned.
i looked into the tomei stuff before i rebuilt it but couldnt afford it

i dont understand why the lifters went out. theyr new and i bled them correctly

if i still had the motor i would get oem lifters and rockers and spacers. then go with the BC springs/retainers and stage 2 cams

tomei dosnt make rocker arms.

You need to change the lifters (obviously) , and you can change the cam if you wish, you can run a hydraulic cam with solids as well ( i have) but it is not recomended due to the ramp up rates on the cam lobe ( all this will cause is a little bit of valve train noise, nothing bad).

However the thing you need to remember is that to do solids your changing the height of the rocker arm which directly affects valve lash. With the stock hydraulic setup the lifeter keeps the rocker on the cam at all times and all the valve shims do is keep the rocker level. Bear in mind every valve shim on every valve is different with the exceptions of the guide shims that are all the same.

The hardest part of going solid is that all the valves have to be reshimmed as the shims now are what keep the rocker on the cam since the lifter is stationary also the shims still have to worry about keeping the rocker level as well. Also you will almost surely need to get all new valve shims because they will be different heights. This is very difficult to do and the hardest part of going solid

And almost nobody shims SR heads correctly.

How did your lifters go out? Or rather, how do you know the lifters went out? Which ones? Sounds very strange.

And remember, modifications are not solutions to problems.

i found tread on a different site how to do it looks like its not easyhttp://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=238409

it just started makeing this noise when i was driveing home after a hard pull on tp but nothing crazy shifted at 7k rpm

its comeing from the top for sure and u cant hear it till 2500 rpm and thats the weakest point on the sr head the lifters and the motor just got rebult resently

Who said the lifters were the weakest part?

Its RARE to see a lifter go bad.

People argue that the design of the lifter/rocker is retarded (free floating rocker - pretty retarded)...the rocker would be the weak part, not the lifter.

Listen to gsracer. Unless you want to waste money, take that valve cover off and figure out what's actually wrong.

i did i turn the motor wout the plugs and oil was comeing good on the rails but i dont have a gauge to know the exact psi

push with your hand on the rocker where it meets the lifters, basicly like if you where pushing the rocker down on top of the lifter. Do this but make sure the cam is pointing down opening the valve, if you find the cam is pointing down putting pressure on the rocker turn the motor till its not. Do this and report back.

i do that tommorow thaks for the help

I try push on them while the cam pointing up but its not moving at all
