lsd or welded diff

most people are telling me to get my diff welded bc its the cheapest way to go and its still good. i know that lsd is a lot more expensive, but is it worth the money. the people that are telling me to get lsd are saying that if i get it welded, i can break a gear in the diff and then end up spending more money. but the person that told me that, welded his diff and it broke on his 400-500 hp muscle car so theres a big difference in power there. i know that with a welded diff, my tires are going to chirp a little when i turn, but is it putting so much strain on my gears that its gonna break them? so what is better, lsd or welded diff. and how long do welded diffs last? this is my daily driver. thanks for the info

Welded diff shows it's weaknesses at low speeds. If you are daily driving your car, then every turn you'll hear the welded diff clack.

I would personally try to learn as much as you can with the open diff and then buy an LSD. I personally think that when I move on to an LSD, all the practice that I've put on open diff will be paid off.

I say go LSD or nothing.
 
if you have no money teh weld and go to the junk yard and buy another s13 diff still cheaper than a clutch type .... well thats if you have a competent welder in the family (my father used to weld together inconel headers for tanks) plus it helps if ou have friends that give you stuff cheap.
but yeah learn as much with open diff and when you can drift like you've got teh snot (vlsd) then get yourselve a lsd if you got the money and if not the welded will work ok.
 
VLSD dosent compare to a welded diff. A Welded Diff acts more like a 2way that anything else, unlike our VLSD which are 1way( Not 1.5way Alex). But if I where you I whould get a 2 way. Best person to ask whould probably be greazy since he has had both.
 
I kind of disagree with all that, i rock a welded diff as my daily driver, yea it sux going thru gas stations and parking lots at like 5 mph and here skeet skeet every time i turn but u get used to it, and trust me donuts and drifts are all worth all the noise and inconvienence. I bought my welded from tyler (greazymule) and everyone knows how rad he is at drifting and how he did and what he did when he had it, he took it to events and slided the shit out of it, and its still holding up, it only cost me 60 bux to buy from him and he sed his guy can weld an open one for 50, but i didnt wanna do that jus incase god forbid something did happen and im out a diff so i have the welded for driving and my stock open one for backup, all my freinds love the welded a lot more than their reg LSD so i say go welded if u dont have the money to spend, and if it breaks, so what your back at sqaure one looking for a diff just like u are now except ull be 50 bux short, but from my experience i dont think its ganna break n e time soon cuz tyler raped it and its still holding up against my rapage
 
whatever u guys want, im not ganna argue, reliabilty = VLSD, i agree with that but welded = cheaper, thats what it comes down to
 
Have you guys ever thought that mabe he was asking wheter to buy a Welded Diff or a 2way? Just because he says LSD dosent mean hes talking about a VLSD.


I say save up money and buy a 2 Way LSD. Way better than a welded, and VLSD.

its good if you have a daily, i mean look at tyler he was kicking ass with his welded diff but for a daily i would have to say get an lsd for your car!
 
fuck that weld the bitch what the fuck deal the noise cry like a little bitch $200 and ter - tech will weld it i drive my welded diff and i drive escorts around pompano and surrounding areas ya if you want if to get lsd pay for it. blah open diff is useless
 
200$ for a welded diff? LOL Thiers places that will do it alot cheaper than that... whoever pays $200 for a welded diff.. well just has to much money.

i love hippos thats all i know ohh and that bishop is a razin head dude if u got the money jsut get LSD but if u want the cheap way out of it get it welded thats all
 
does anything happen when drifting with an open diff does it mess anything up???an is it harder to drift with an open diff??? get back at me thanks josh

seriously, granted it would be done properly by ter-tech, but who is this dude that did it for tyler? was it a shop or some random guy with a welder
