You might be able to get around taking the engine out if you lift the engine has high as possible and are able to get the pan out. You might have to take the oil pickup off to get the pan out. Be sure you get that pick up back on there tight if you take it off. Clean the pan on the work bench and figure out whether it will be better to apply the rtv sealant to the pan on the bench or after its almost installed in the car. Put back on engine, seat bolts in a criss cross pattern and the hard part is done!
