well, ive done some experimenting and researching but havent found out quite what i want to know. i have an sr20 and i wanted a bov. decided to unrecirc the current recirc valve. blocked off the recirc tube and let it vent for effect, and car ran like shit, was missing at constant throttle and stalled every time i went to idle. hooked it back up and problem solved. now is this inevitable?? and if i install a bov wont i have the same result?? i understand bov's are stupid and only make the sound, giving me nothing but sound, but we all like the sound :D sorry for the noob question

You need a S-afc that has The Deceleration Air Flow Correction.

basically whats happening is the air in a recirc setup is already accounted for by the MAF and the ecu is looking for this air. When you add a BOV thats non recirc you are venting that air to atmosphere and leaving the ecu looking for that air. Its not there and the ECU doesn't know this cause its getting its reading from the maf so its dumping fuel, making the car run like shit.

You can also get a tuned ecu to fix the problem.

I suggest putting your BOV on the cold pipe and not the hot pipe like most people do.

im gonna try venting stock again and make sure i have nothing leaking, but until then can anyone answer this. ive heard from a lot of people that -20 is the perfect vacuum. well is it bad if you have more??? like when im decelerating im at between -24 and -25 and idling its between -20 and -21. is this a bad thing?

that vac is fine. theres more when dec. because your wheels are keeping the motor turning while your throttle is closed. the only way your car will run bad at part throttle with the bov d/c is if its opening or if you have a leak elsewhere. it should however go pig rich between shifts or whenever you let off the gas. but like stated prior you could fi that with a safc

god i love the way compressor surge sounds!
too bad its horrible for your turbo

and make a boost leak tester (coupler, pvc end cap, tire valve)
it cost just a few bucks and it takes no time at all
