SOHC rebuild?

If I dont sell my hatch, i was thinking of rebuilding the motor n going on boost. Anyone know a shop and a price estimate for the rebuild including/excluding parts and labor?

Rebuilding it to stock or what. And why waste money when you can go buy a better motor for same price.
 
to stock. i dont want to buy another motor just to rebuild it too, when i can just rebuild this one. its been good to me (SOHCs) so i figure id just stick with it. i dont need major power or anything crazy. this is a daily not a toy.
 
I can tell you right now that wasting your money rebuilding a ka-sohc to stock and then turbo is just throwing your money away.
 
to be honest get an sr or an rb

for the price of the rebuild and turbo kit you could have an rb20 or an sr20 for the same price and it will be better in every way
 
i can rebuild yours i rebuilt a good amount of motors and 2 sohc i think they are good motors
but sr20 or rb20 is better but cant go to a advance and get your parts

that was what i was thinking. i dont want to go thru the hastle of looking for parts if something Fs up. thats why i just want to rebuild this motor.

i mean, nothing is wrong with it, it drives great, but theres nothing better than driving your car around n not being worried about it going out on u.

i had an s13 sr b4, in 2003, it was the worst, because everything had to be ordered. i dont know about now. thats the reason i havent swapped a motor in a car in a while.
 
i bought a rebuilt ka24e for 250, but i knew the guy and he gave me a realy good deal plus i put his shop sticker on my car.
 
id rather blow and swap 10 motors than spend the money time and effort on rebuilding just one

thats a great price. what im concerned about is the nice amenities like a/c n ps, i dunno anyone that can fab it for me if i go dual. like i said this is a daily. i go thru a shit load of traffic. thats why i havent made a fuss about converting it to 5pd.

good point. the only thing is i cant have this car sitting while i look for a motor and have someone put it on everytime it "blows"

cant go too fast in traffic. just want to have a little fun on the drive home.

man the point is do what u want to do. i like my single and its un-naturally fast but thats because its not at all stock.;) (and no green-mechains i will not tell u what it is) :p
