sr20 engine knock

my engine started knocking yesterday on my way home its only doing it around 2k rpm and ist sounds like its comeing from the top of the engine i pulled the valve cover everything looks fine any idea what could be the problem about the motor it has been rebult by previus owner 5k miles ago
 
Poor rebuild, Thick Oil, Over Rev. Use a stethoscope to pin point the noise. Drain your oil check for fillings,
 
It had this problem before.. it ended up being a leak between the manifold and the head..

Take some vacuum line and put it in your ear and put the other end my the manifold and you will be able to hear the leak.. it was towards the front of the motor..

Hopefully that's all it is

Warped head? Or incorrect torque procedure!?
 
yes its a leak at the manifold im ordering a 7 layer exhaust mani gasket and torqe the bolts again thank
 
that REALLY sounds like rod knock, i could be wrong but my ka sounded exactly like that
 
i post pictures tommorow when i pull the valvecover but the noise is random sometimes its comes on low and then sometimes very sharp like metal on metal and it comes different rpm but nothing when its idels
 
Might be a lifter. Do these steps:
Start car
Disconnect coilpack 1 by 1
rev to RPM it's making the sound at, hold it
If knock goes away you have a rod knock
If not pop your valve cover.
