i got my hands on a sr20de block whats the diff beetwen an sr20det block . can i just rebuild it and put a turbo on it. help please. im a no no when it comes to turbo...

I think it's the same thing, just switch internals. Maybe compression might be a bit higher since it's an NA. Screaw it, what do I know im a KA fan LOL:D

Compression is higher and a few other changes.. seems like you could rebuild with DET pistons to make it work... like ricky IDK i'm a KA guy

oil squirt'rs, in the engine experience i have had i know thats the main diff in turbo to non turbo engines of the same block

Ding ding ding!

There's no piston oil squirters but if you're tearing down the block they can easily be added. If you don't know what the oil squirters are for, they cool the pistons by shooting underneat them. KA's have em as do most high perfomance NA engines...I have no idea why Nissan didn't put them in the NA SR block. Also, the pistons are different b/c of it being a "high compression" engine (obviously). Not sure about the rods or crank though. There's no factory oil fittings for a turbo either so you'd have to drill and tap like turbo'ing most NA cars.

That said, if you're planning on tearing down the block it wouldn't take much to make an NA SR bottom end suitable for turbo applications.

WHAT IN THE ****. why int eh hell didnt Nissan put oil squirts in the SR/ i was just talking to bladder about running an S14 N/A SR to make around 180hp....this sucks....i wonder if i can order new ones from Nissan Japan from the DET?

well hopefully that wont be a problem because i want to tear it down and build it from scratch all HKS ( and i mean all. HKS) so its gonna be da hell of a slow process. but good to know. i guess ill just sell it and get an sr20det block just to be on the safe side.......

wat us guys think?

i think u can go multi manufacturer with your engine parts and get the same quality at a 1/3 of a price

correct, i think it would be a little redicilous purchasing every engine internal from hks. i could use other manufactuer's parts ( that have been proven time after time) and use the extra money for other parts to make more power or improve the handeling of the vehical. extra money = larger turbo, or coilovers, or a bunch of other stuff.

If you're going to waste money on overpriced parts, at least go with Jun. They are the best, bar none. Also, their intake manifold is the sickness.
