stock KA24/automatic questions...........

Well, I have many miscellaneous questions:

1) Does anyone know of a good place to have my tranny serviced? Change fluid, filter, etc. Keep in mind it is automatic. I have heard sometimes servicing the tranny has drawbacks. Is that true. Will I ruin it instead of helping it?

2) How often should I change spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, etc? I did all this a year and a half ago when I bought it.

3) Where can I get the car's running conditions checked? Compression and that kind of thing. I just want to keep the engine healthy in the event I go KA-T rather than SR.

Thank you everyone for inputs on these issues.

do a 5 speed swap. that would take car of #1

LOL !!!! I should have seen that coming and you are absolutelly right. The thing is, I can't do nothing major on the car during Hollyday season because of expenses of course and because I need the car in running conditions. I can't afford to have it siting in a shop even one day during December and January. I am looking to start all that end of January. But I hear you Broa!

well i can do a compression test, since i have to do one on my ka ( sohc ) anyways. i just have to pick up the gauge from the shop. the five speed swap wasnt to expensive for me. i probably spent 150- 200 bux for everything. if you thinking of keeping the auto then i would change the oil but i think in the long run 5 speed is the way to go its way cheaper. alot more fun to drive also.i feel ya my ride is a daily also. Here's some info on what i did.

i did the swap by my myself in my driveway. the hardest part was taking out the automatic pilot bearing/spacer. took me 2 days for the complete swap. everything else is just sourcing the parts that you need.clutch and pressure plate, manual tranny bolts, manual flywheel bolts, slave, clutch master, agency power clutch line, brake pedal, clutch pedal, and drive shaft, and fluid.and research how to wire. that shit was cake.

Thank you for response but I will have to pay someone to get this done. I don't have a place to this nor tools and I am not that mechanic sabby. I understand some mechanic basics but not to the extent of getting this done myself. For now I will just service the auto. Any ideas where to get this done?

What about the other questions in my thread. Any suggestions? Please advise!

if your swapping out the tranny next month wont ity be pointless to service the tranny a month before you throw it away???is there anything wrong with your tranny thats making you want to service it???if not dont try to fix whats not broken you feel me because your tranny has been broken in already with the oil in there you can do a tranny flush change the fluid and filter but i heard this will cause problems in the long run unless you get it rebuilt then change everything stated. IMO leave it if its running fine.....hell im trying to do a 5spd swap topmmarow i just need a pedal if you want have my tranny just in case :bigthumbu

Depends on how much servicing is? If it aint too much I would do it.

It shifts hard from first to second when it is cold. Then after running for a while it shifts fine. It idles normally when in neutral or parking but when in Drive it idles low like 600 RPMS (At red lights or intersections). It is only doing that lately. Like through the past month. And also at times the car drives normally and at times it feels slughish.

So is anyone out there able to answer some of the other questions? Maybe an automatic drifter. I hear there are a few who drift autos here.
