Who is US Drift Circuit? and how did it start?
US Drift Circuit started as a conversation between Rich, Chris and Tim at SWD Pro-Am Round 1 at Road Atlanta. We wanted to see changes to the way the Pro and Pro-Am events have been run recently and know how to do it better.
The Co-Founders are:
Chris Jackson (The World Famous!) - SFL Drifters username "Chris Jackson" - Chris has been actively involved in the South Florida Drift Scene for quite a few years now. Chris' knowledge of building cars is legendary and gives USDC the ability to keep tech and competition fair. His insight is also an intricate part of designing exciting and challenging layouts with the "blank canvas" we have been given at the Casino
Tim Murphy - SFL Drifters username "Hachi" - As the owner of Drift Sessions with several successful events under his belt, Tim's experience and knowledge of running and participating in events is essential to our goal of bringing the drivers the best of several different Pro-Am and Pro series wrapped up in one great package!
Rich DeBerardinis - SFL Drifters username "CobraStngSVT" - Rich has 15 years of motorsports under his belt primarily in the road race arena. That coupled with his marketing and business background helps keep the "back office" of USDC moving along.
What is the Goal of USDC?
Our goal is to start a Pro-Am/Pro level series and eventually hold individual events throughout the country. We want to start by giving the local drivers a taste of what it's like to be in the Pro's... From some of the safety standards to Top 16 Driver introductions to large scale crowds and driver payouts.
Why should I drive the Casino Event on Oct. 20th?
First off you can register and secure your spot here: http://jackson-performance.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=71
Some of the key highlights for our event that separate us from other series in the area are:
- Driver Payouts.
Non-Caged Class (Solo Competition) YES EVEN SOLO CLASS HAS PAYOUTS!!!
$75 per person to enter (Pre-Registration Price Only). Includes driver and 2 crew members
Payouts:
1st Place $250
2nd Place $150
3rd Place $75
Caged Class (Tandem)
$150 per person (Pre-Registration Price Only). Includes driver and 2 crew members.
$50 of each Caged Class registration will go into the payout "pot" to be broken up into 1st through 3rd payouts with a MINIMUM payout as shown below.
Minimum Payouts: (Based on 16 car entries, anything over means higher payouts)
1st Place $400
2nd Place $300
3rd Place $150
- Exciting and New Track Layout
We won't be releasing the official track layout(s) until a few days before the event but what I can tell you is we're planning something that will be fun, challenging, and technical that maintains good tandems. There MAY be an "A" course and a "B" course for the different classes....
- Location
Obviously this is a GREAT location, and if we have a successful event with good driver and spectator turnout, the Seminole Tribe has offered to open up more properties to us and invest in the local drift scene. This means WE ALL WIN!
In Summary, What is Required of a car to compete in USDC?
BASICALLY, The safety rules for the tandem class are straight from the tried and true Pro-Am rule book. Nothing new... same for the Solo Class and the Countyline rules. Plus, USDC is more lenient to car modifications and swaps than FD and XDC.
Have a S13 subframe in your AE86? NO PROBLEM!
No dash or custom dashboard that doesn't look stock? NO PROBLEM!
Wisefab kit? NO PROBLEM!
How Can I Learn More?
You can contact any of the three co-founders with any questions you may have regarding the event through here or through our Facebook page. We will also be attending various events throughout the month where you could obtain a direct response to any questions. For those who go to the Wednesday night Pines meet, we are providing preliminary vehicle tech inspections for the event. That way you'll know beforehand if your vehicle is good to go. If the Pines meet is too far from your location, Chris Jackson from Jackson Performance is offering the same service at his shop. For more information on how to get there or to schedule an appointment, visit Jackson-Performance.com.
