Towing a 240sx

Ok, so next weekend Im going to pick up my new project. I plan on using a tow dolly behind the xj. My question is, how hard is it to disconnect the driveshaft? I don't want to burn up the tranny in it so I want to pull it out before I tow it.

is it auto or manual? If it's manual don't worry about it. If it's automatic then yeah, take it out. It's 4 bolts on the rear end side, 14mm if I remember correct. Then the center carrier bearing is 2 bolts. Not too hard, you'll figure it out when you get down there.

no never tow a rear wheel drive car with the rear tires on the floor the same goes for a front wheel drive car.... eather put the front tiers on the ground and lock the steering wheel with the factory lock and seat belt like a tow truck driver would or pull the drive shaft.... i say this in all seriousness bro

ur gonna have to just remove the 2nd half of the drive shaft and secure the other half to the tranny somehow otherwise you're gonna have a big oily mess

It is a manual, and that is what I was afraid of (big oily mess). Dammit, they won't let me rent a larger trailer due to the small size of the cherokee.

this is tru but if you have no outher option make sure you check those things :bigthumbu in my opinion dont do it i never towed any of my 240's with a dolly only a drive on trialer you can get from uhaul for 10 or 20 dollars more than the dolly

only safe way to tow a rear wheel drive car on a dolly if its a shell with no engine and tranny :bigthumbu

just do that if your getting a dolly save yourself the time and trouble and pay the extra 10 or 20 bucks for the drive on trailer :bigthumbu
