water/oil gauge readings

I had two guages laying around that i decided to install, the first an electrical short-sweep oil pressure gauge, and another one for water temp. i took the instructions read em and wired them up accordingly to what i could figure out from the instructions, but wen i went to connect my batt today (keep in mind the car is not running yet), the gauge are giving me wierd readings like water temp is between (100-125) and oil pressure is past 100psi.... im just wondering what i could have done wrong, I wired the power directly to the battery and the s terminals to the sending units. i used these little thingies to connect to the batt and sending units:

and these are what the sending units look like:

I had to stop messing with it cuz it got dark but the only thing im thinking i could have done wrong is mixing up the oil pressure and water temp sending wires and ran the oil press to the water temp and vise versa, but idk... has anyone ever had this prob or have i made a mistake in how i have wired it if i didnt mix the two wires??

Juan, have someone experienced in electrical shit to do your wiring. Remember last time...

wat are u talking bout last time??? r u talking about fuel pump cuz that was pure genious.... and it wasnt my fault it went out

ur gay, just help me fix this bump ok so after looking at my wires and reading the instructions over and over again, i realized i used 16g wire instead of the 18g wire it says on the instructions, could this be my prob??

well i have then their brand new too, my question is why is it reading funny, im gon na go take pics of everything and post up for u guys that have done this before...

no, you probably put ground to the sensor wire input instead

The gauge should only have three leads, power / ground / sensor. What your explaining is typical of ground being conected to the sensor input.

You used the sending unit that came with the gauge right? Where did you put the oil sender unit? Using 16 over 18 will give you less resistance in the wire which could possibly screw up readings. Hard to tell though. And switch the damn wires already and at least see if its mixed. Its only two wires how can you loose track of them, you must of wired both gauges, went under your car and said yea I think this goes to this sure why not. Idk anyway.

Damian, did my gauges, he's knowledgeable in this. You know his user name? It's MiamiGetLow.

well for one i did use the sendind units that came with the guages, and i replaced the stock sending unit with the aftermarket sending unit, i swithched the water and oil sedngin unit wires and it gave me a wierd reading also (oil pressure way under, and water temp normal (under 100 but not way under)) and about the ground where should i have grounded it off too, because i just found a whole on my chassis and put a bolt through it and ran the wire to the bolt assuming that would work lol heres some pics that might help me out:

and also i ziptied the grounds apart that way i would know their grounds so i deff did not mix those up with the sending unit wires thx tho jerry, any more ideas?

Your water temp seems to be fine. Crank the engine a few times to see if the oil pressure changes. If nothing else, remove the oil pressure sender and see if it still reads 100psi+.

Not the wire. The Unit itself. Could mean a blockage in the sender if its still reading 100psi+ when removed. Did you crank the motor or turn it on?

no not yet, its not cranking rite now but my friend is coming to help me fix it, i just posted this up in the mean time, will update later today after i get the car started

also my other question is did i wire the power wires rite, like is it ok to wire them directly to the batt or would that drain my battery, because it would cause the gauges to always be on?

I would wire it to an accesory power meaning only when the key is on it will turn on

thats wat i was thinking two, btu idk how i should do it or what i should splice it in with, cuz theres two power wires one for each guage....
