wheel hop

You have to be more specific to the situation. When you shift to second? A second gear clutch kick? Are you sure it only happens in 2nd gear?

And also describe the hopping. Is it coming from the rear? The front? Speed dependent? Any clunking noise associated with the hopping? Are you sure it's the wheels?

ya its wheel hop for sure, I just used 2nd gear
as an example. Like is I go straight and clutch kick
it in 2nd it hops like crazy, but only if I'm going
straight if I turn a little if stops and just slides.
I just wanna know what I can do to stop this hop.
I have no rear sway bar, car did not come with one
so I dont know if that would make a difference.

Sounds like the subframe bushings are gone replace them or add some subframe spacers.

It sounds suspension related. Your tires aren't being kept firmly to the ground. How are the shocks? Bushings? What kind of tires are you using?

It sounds like the power being sent to the wheels is making the wheel spin, but since the tire hops, the suspension isn't keeping the wheel on the road surface. You may need to update/refresh your suspension.

Your sway bar would have nothing to do with wheel hop, as it is meant to reduce body roll (side to side) during cornering.

Thanks guys, Im gonna have to order up some bushings then.
My mounts are solid mounts and my suspension is pretty much
new, so that just leaves the 20+ year old bushings

im more than 90% sure that its the subframe bushings. i was having the same problem until i changed them out. its a world of a difference. just get some energy suspension subframe inserts and that should alleviate the situation a little

WHile your subframe bushings are more than likely shot, if your struts and springs are as well, there will be hop. Same goes for every other bushing in your rear suspension.

subframe, if you get collars there still might be a chance that it would hop a little, so i would say replace the bushings and add collars or go for solid bushings.

It says he has an AE86 and last I knew they dont have a subframe in the rear. They are solid axel.

a rear sway bar CAN help with wheel hop.

But bushings and shocks are gonna be the main culpret. Get your control arm bushings re done and buy a T3 panhard bar
