Why I will be boycotting D1GP, and you should too.

Some of you may have heard that D1GP recently announced a 2010 schedule, 9 months late.

I'd like to encourage you to read this article, and some of the subsequent comments reguarding the D1GP 2010 series that was announced 9 months after promised announcement.

Also keep in mind most of the people who actually made D1GP happen in 2009 have gone to help XDC.

Not trying to start drama, or sway your opinion, but I do actually somewhat care about the industry, and the actions D1 has chosen to take are absolutely unacceptable, and in my eyes unforgivable given their previous track record.

I will not be transporting anyone like I normally do, I will not be crewing for anyone like I normally do, and I don't really drive anymore so that's a given. I will not even attend this event to give it a try.

I highly encourage you to read this truthful written article documenting a libelous press-release put out by D1GPUSA that just slanders Formula Drift with nothing but falsified statements that display absolutely no foundation of any sliver of truth.

it seems like all they did was screw up their facts. they are trying to promote their series so its only natural to try and knock down the contenders.

I'm not a big fan of formula D anyways so i could careless i'm still going to the homestead event lol

^ thats if it even happens. From what I have heard they haven't actually booked any of their venues yet and the venues know nothing about a d1 event happening at their tracks.

Wrecked mag and FD are in bed with each other honestly if it was another media outlet id take it serious:laugh::boring:

Wrecked = Fox News of drifting

after the judgement call on Bill Sherman vs Chris Fosberg I realize that is who u know in FD... Rhys Millen keeps having issues with the Judges at FD specially wen he goes against a DA driver. dont get me wrong, I like DA and I'm friends with JR but fact is that I seen this and I'm not alone.

the BS that D1 said vs FD is called "MARKETING" we see it all the time in TV commercials, paper adds like: Energizer vs Duracell, Bounty vs Brawny, and so on.

If that was a big deal how about the stuff FD said against NOPI wen they came to the sport, I even heard of FD telling licensed drivers that if they participate in NOPI that FD holds the right to take the FD license from that driver... oh and ask Blake Fuller about his FD experience wile he was in FD and NOPI and the poor judgement to show people that one of the best NOPI drivers cant stand in FD. and don't get me started on poor judging with me and my NOPI round 1 at Moroso West Palm cause that we all know what happened... right Mike?

So here is my take, I will support both venues because I love the sport, its my passion, I enjoy every bit of it and I want it to blow up like NASCAR did. Sadly it all goes back to the stupid argument we had years ago in this forum... MONEY & POLITICS.

MAn if only it was more cost effective to drift for Now I could Not Care less about NOPI FD this D1 that. Shit everything is money money money

i didn't look at the close up of the packet. i think the only way they could have covered their asses from a slander lawsuit would be if there was some kinda fine print saying "the numbers listed above are estimates and projections and in no way should be taken as factual stats." otherwise, slander. and defamation. i think.

its greasy tactics. maybe they have the right to shady market schemes but i think the original hope was that it wouldn't have to come to this. but really, this looks bad for d1

I've been around a while. I will graduate in 1 year with a marketing minor, and with enough hours to get some sort of business law minor. This is not marketing, this is the most clear cut case of libel I've ever seen.

Marketing you can claim you are the best, better, whatever. That is fine. That is legal, that is normal. Pathetic sometimes, but its the way it is. What is not fine is falsified numbers/claims. Basically if it comes down to an opinionated stance, say whatever you want. Legally I can throw a parking lot event and sell it as "Better than FD". Its an opinion. What I cannot do however is throw a parking lot event, claim 10k people showed up when 3k did, then compare to my competitor who normally has 10-15k show up, and say they had 2k. Thats called libel, and its illegal. In a nutshell..and this makes the industry as a whole look extremely stupid.

I never heard/saw anything like that. Bill did fine in both at the same time.

and don't get me started on poor judging with me and my NOPI round 1 at Moroso West Palm cause that we all know what happened... right Mike?

I'd rather never speak of that event again. The situation I was unknowingly put into I'm suprised the event even happened. But as far as what we could actually see on the track from our make-shift tower and what you know we told you in drivers meeting, it was consistant. Blake trying to look cool and pass someone, which also caused him to be extremely off of the line is what we specifically told him not to do, and blows my mind how he can't understand that. Trying to pass someone on the inside, with no angle, on an outside clipping point....enough said.

In the end, I'm with everyone after post #17. But this kind of unfortunate action D1 has willingly chosen to partake in the industry shouldn't be supported or tolerated at all.
