Hi there fellow drifters
I wanted to get your feedback and feeling on supercharger kits for the twincam KA.

These are Jeff Knight supercharger kits
they use the eaton M62 supercharger off the nissan xterra/ frontier
eatonm62.jpg

Horsepower and Torque increase from 210-225hp / 200-240 ft lbs of TQ based on and boost settings and injectors/MAF

the complete kit with supercharger and adapters is $3400
the bolt on kit is $1750 ( you would have to have your own eaton m62 supercharger)

What do you guys think of the supercharger sut up?

Would any of you be interested in this set up?

If so would you be interested in a group buy?

boost is cheaper and easyer to work on, with that kind of money you can boost the ka and get a tunable ecu so that you roll back the timeing and stop the ticking time bomb affect

supercharger makes boost bro.

Your car will still be real slow with that thing on it. Just turbo it.

turbo is the way to go, and with nistune or aem you can get a healthy AND safe motor for less and be in the 400hp range

for $3400.00 you can:

Fully build your ka

Have a very nice top mount setup

And possibly run a full stand alone and definetly put down twice the power that supercharger does.

NOTE: This is considering that your doing all the work yourself.

thats like a crazy amount of money for like, nothing power.

either turbo your KA, put a JZ motor in it, or put an ls1 in it. Dont try to be different, becuase different doesnt work.

QFT. Unless your throwing a B16A in an s13 I don't wanna hear the word "different".

u think?? u need a legit manifold, turbo, lines, radiator, fuel pump, fuel pressure reg, intercooler setup, then u need to fully build the motor (not a stock rebuild), and then we getting into a full stand alone setup not to mention the hundreds it will cost to tune that........If you use legit parts u could spend over 3400 bro

Here we go:

Most of the items you mentioned can be ebay items i.e intercooler, turbo lines, rad, and fuel pump. Building a KA is fairly cheap. CP pistons + eagle rods and some rings, bearings etc. With arp head studs and a thick head gasket along with machining the block I'm confident that you'll spend 2500 with parts. Leave the head alone. Remember that I said you would be building it yourself and the only stranger touching your motor would be the machine shop. Stand alone, well; that's if you get it used. You could easily use an e-manage and get away with that too and only spend 200-250 on it. Couple of dyno runs for 250 and your golden.

But I'm a fucking idiot who just bought an SR so who am I to speak lol.

wen i think nice i dont think ebay......and wen i say full stand alone i dont think emanage and a bs tune.....I think greddy, aem, flex-a-lite, defi, arp, koyo, garret, precision, and at least a few hours on the dyno to get me riding right.......this is a legit setup

E-manage is greddy and it's not BS.

And Ebay makes awesome products for the broke people. Why do you need an HKS front mount worth 1200 when you can use a cxracing intercooler and work just the same? Why use a koyo worth 375 when cxracing is 150 and they are both 3 row aluminum rads? Flex A Lites are known to be garbage. The fans at auto zone do a better job and only cost 30 each vs. like $200 fans. And a dyno run at HP LOGIC up here in WPB is 300 and the tuner who does the tunning is #2 best tuner in the world for AEM <--- don't take my word for that.

So then for $3400 he could partially build a ka, get a china turbo kit with all parts/accessories, and have a ROM tune.

In a nut shell.

I mean your initial statement was correct, turbo would be a better option, but saying so because its cheaper is incorrect. Anything done right will cost, and I prefer to make choices based on the results I want to accomplish opposed to the price-tag. When I worked retail I can't tell you how many people think price before quality and end up crying after the purchase. I'm not saying that you have to break the bank, but to make reliable quality power you will spend a nice coin.

why u all figthing for,,,,,looki buid my own ka-t,,, here we go,,,,

lol we aren't fighting. Otis drives an IS so I understand where he's coming from. You are a great example of what I was talking about.

iam supercharging my wifes s13 doing most the fab work myself so that will save me alot of money and i also got a good deal on my eaton, just gunna throw some stock sr injectors in it and a walbro and prob a emanage

the car also has internals done so that will be a big plus but my setup shouldnt cost over 1500$
