In theory this is done with heat, but it would generally need to be a very controlled manner to make the effect even. I would do several tests on some scrap 304 before i started messing with the actual exhaust tips (unless they were cheap). It may be difficult to reproduce this same effect...

Anyone know of a place in SFLA that offers steam cleaning services for undercarriages and chassis? I've got a nasty oil leak that's gunked up everything and once i get around to fixing the leak, i want to get it cleaned up. KRM

I just rented the tool from Advance Auto (then broke two of the tools in the kit in the process). I gotta think that bashing the side of the steering knuckle with 10lb hammer has to create stress risers in the metal..... that didn't stop me from trying though before i got the tool. KRM

You can get the front ball joints from NAPA and you can get the bushings from Energy Suspension/Whiteline/Super Pro. You don't need to replace the whole arm if you don't want to. A lot of people just buy new arms with ball joints and poly bushings already installed because it's a PITA job to...
