Ya chances are they are stuck open somehow. Unplug them, take out the spark plugs, disconnect the distributor and crank the motor to get all the fuel out of the motor.

if it was a valve your motor would run like complete doodoo

too much gas mixed with oill = no lubrication wich would cause a spun bearing, and it doesnt have to be loud to be knocking.

if u have to ask then dont do it.
