my alternator died in my hatch and i just popped in a new one and i noticed, where you hook up the positive wire, the nut that fasten it down get's really hot. i never noticed this before but is it a normal? will it cause my new alternator to burn out again?

just got a 93 s13 but not sure how hard - long its going to take me on the front seal to fix, its throwing oil everywhere :( but was wondering if someone did it and has a something to warn me or advice before i fix soon.
