filter is looking a little rugged.. but other than that it looks awsome bro.. ive done plenty of swaps and i know what a clean swap looks like.. nice work.

what is the deal with these 1j's what is good about them i mean if your going through the trouble why not do a 2j swap i dont quite understand these 1j motors other then they are 2.5 liters vs the 3 liter 2j

^if you don't understand why are you even asking this question?

could be personal preference, price, being a little different than most IS owners, etc.

props if you do it!

i know whats great about a 2j just not 1j's... is the only diff the 1/2 liter? and i know there is a price diff too... and this didnt make sense either.. :p

From what I've overheard and then heard again:
The first reason would be $$$ the 2J is like 2X the price of the 1J

Second reason:
1jz is a 2.5L and makes 280 stock
2jz is 3.0L and makes 280 stock

If a smaller engine makes same power as bigger engine the smaller engine has a more efficient power band

Reason Number 3 is that the 1jz is easier to manage electronically

Again this is just from listening to ENDLESS discussions about 1J's and 2J's....so I may have some of the info wrong please excuse me if I do.

BTW the filter looks beat up because it IS!!! Its just for fitment. If you want to see this car and many of our others go to HIN in MIami...they will all have clean filters there. LOL

from what i know, the only diffrence between 1/2jz is that the stroke on the 1jz is shorter than the 2jz. bore is the same, pistons are the same. pistons speeds are reduced in the 1jz at a given rpm so it revs more freely but the 2jz has .5liters of displacment and way better turbos stock.
