2-way lsd and bent/unbalanced wheels?

I have some steelies i had before i got my s13 se alloys that rode ok before. Steelies are bent and the guy couldn't balance one of the wheels properly (the one i put on the rear passenger side).

So yesterday after work i put my "fun-time" wheels on and start heading home. Both rear are steelies, left side is 205/50/15 kuhmo with little tread left, and the passenger side rear wheel is also a 205/50/15 generic cheap-o tire with about 1/2 treat (used tire). Anyways the car would pull HARD to the right when under decent-heavy throttle. So i stopped checked air pressure, the generic passenger rear was 37, and the driver rear was 28 :ugh: . Filled the driver side tire up to 37psi to match and get back on the road. Car still pulls/pushed HARD to the right passenger side. But i hit up a lot real quick to try out hte LSD in the dry for the first time. (BTW i need power-steering and i wasn't doing too well  ). Go home put my stock SE wheels on with good tires and car drives fine.

Basically i want to know if it's my bent/dented unbalanced steelies that's the real issue, or is it the miss-match tread thickness/design thats causing the HARD push feel that wants to throw me off the road. And once i let off the throttle it straightens out (was scary when i first jumped on the highway got off at the next exit). Both are cheap i could go to u-pull it and find some straight un-bent steelies and i could also get some more cheap used tires. Would just rather not waste time/money on both.

thanks for any help/info.

Tread. On is more dominate then the other. Especially if the tread depth if different.

one thing with 2-ways is the rear tire sizes and air pressures if not the same or close to it your car will pull in a certain direction on ACCEL

ic. well if i'm drifting at events shouldn't be a problem then as i can go on good tires and swap out the "fun-time" tires there. it's just if i wanna go out for some local action i'll have to take it easy. :bigthumbu

I'm pretty sure it will put premature wear on your diff. You deffinatly want to run the same tires on both sides in the back for events. This will make your car more predictable. Plus if your car has a lateral pull if will effect your drifting in general.

it's funny you just posted that i was thinking the same thing about uneven wear on the diff and clutch plates...might have to hold off on some dorifto till i can get some tires.

Any clutch type LSD is tricky when using different tires on each axle. 2 ways just make it harder under hard decel as well. So just run equal tires on each axle, especially in the rain.

when i first put it in 2 weeks ago, that first weekend i put the used tires on, got a flat and was running one 205/50/15 in the rain and a 205/55/15 in the rain...needless to say i learned that lesson real quick. made sense that when the diff/axel trying to spin the same speed with differnt wheels it would pull/clunk and drive like crap. But didn't know/think a tread pattern/wear difference would affect it as well. Sensitive little thing isn't it. Learn something new everyday. :bigthumbu
