2jz standealone debate

So motor is a 2jz ge block. Arp headstuds, gte headgasket, 750cc injectors, precision 5758 turbo. The debate is what standealone is the best and not so difficult to set up. Planning on still using the distributor. Motor is non vvti. I've looked into megasquirt as they aren't as expensive. I know sal is using one and likes his. Anybody who has had any experience with a standealone can maybe chime in thanks. I know aem makes one that is like plug and play for the 2j but it's like 1600 so I'm not capable of spending that much.
 
supraforums or clubna-t are your best bet for info. if your gonna go standalone dont cheap out bro
 
Ben please don't turn this thread into garbage. If anyone has ran standealones or know good information about them please share. Especially if you have a 2jz or 1jz with a standealone
 
If you arent looking to spend much, an AFC isnt a bad bet. However if you are set on going standalone,on clublexus/supraforums ,look for Jordan @ Power Squirt AKA shaodome he has done great work with 2j's using Megasquirt and would probably fit within your price range.
Just remember,when you add in any additional sensors you will need and a good tuner,its not going to end up being cheap,so just brace your self for that.
I had an afc on my supra for a while before I went standalone and have seen amazing things done with that setup considering you can get with the right people!
As far as saito i " heard" he was using an HKS F-Con setup? Not sure if that can be confirmed though.

Thanks I'll defenetly pm that guy. But Safc can only adjust 50 percent a/f ratio and that is like Max 500cc injectors
 
Haltech all day!!! That is the best next to a Motec. But you can find used AEMs in the $800 range. As for tuning expect to spend around $800 as well that includes Tuner, dyno, and fuel. What is your power goal?
 
Around 400whp at least. Maybe like 15lbs of boost. I don't want to be unsafe. And a lotta guys told me 300 for a tune with a megasquirt
 
US spec tt supra injectors (550) and SAFC is the easiest and still safe for that power goal. That price is for a Haltech or AEM. $300 for tuning, plus dyno time, Plus fuel???
 
dude 550 adj fpr n safc is aslow budget as u can get and it will put u at 400hp

No I already have the 750cc injectors and I made up my mind that the best thing to do us to get a standealone to keep my motor safe
 
750cc injectors are silly for 400hp... Are you trying to drown your motor? (joke)
With a standalone and a good ignition set up I.E. new plugs MSD coilpacks n wires
you can be WAY more efficent and wont need 750cc injectors.

Plus im pretty sure the 2jz-gte can make 400 on stock injectors, i know u stated u have a 2j-ge but still, 750's! Could make 650 or more on those...

Anyway, I have been running a Go-tech ECU on my rb, its been nothing short of awesome, i have a few friends who have been running this ecu from my recommendation and thus far they havent had any complaints, and they are on a variety of motors. rbs, 1js, 7m, Bert with the Blue AE86 with the s2k motor runs a Gotech aswell.


As far as capabilities it can do everything any other Full-standalone can do, including run off map sensor, 2 step launch control if ur into that, and so on... JFGI=JustFuckingGoogleIt

Forgot to mention, if u shop the market( ebay, Craigslist) you can find them for pretty cheap.. My buddy just got his for 500. i think they are retailing 1200 new tho.
 
I said I wanted at least 400 if I could get 600whp with that setup that would be awesome but I don't think I would be able to. And my buddy is also running Gotech on his 7m motor. Ima look into that. Thanks.
 
I've used ms many times Erik and to be honest unless you like to tinker with electronics I would not recommend it. It's very powerful in the right hands but it takes someone who knows electronics well rather than just a tuner. I would look into aem or one of the other standalOnes others recommended just because they offer a more complete package out of the box. Btw I hate you
