350Z brakes on S13

Lol^ that's why it said and more..

No the caliper doesn't bolt right up. I can't remember the companys name right now but they make the bracket with all new hardware for $60. But the rotors are expensive. They go for about $400 just for the fronts. Then add the brake calipers and pads and also u need conversion lines to run 300zx calipers on a s-chassis. A bit steep for some people but its money well spent when u can stop on a dime. It jusr bugs me to see all these people doin high hp setups and roll on stop brakes! Its just amazing. Either way and of the above post brake setups are atleast x2 better then stock brakes!!

I couldn't have said it better. That's building a car up backwards, build it to handle the power your putting down before you drop in that motor. Damn that's a lot of money for rotors. I can get Powerslot rotors for the Evo Brembos for $240 plus shipping. The hawk pads ran me $130ish, $60 for lines, $150 for the bracket. The calipers were around $300 - $400 on ebay.

Yeah they are cheap but I got all 4 of my calpiers for 60buxs and front 350z rotors for 120shipped and rears for 60 so I got a super deal.

But like I said before if ur goining over a total of 6 pistons in ur brake setup u will need a better bmc. I drove my s14 with 300zx brakes all around and had a stock s14 bmc. The car still stopped amazing compared to stock brakes but the pedal had a spongey feel to it. But when I swapped to a 300zx 17/16bmc? All I can say was WOW!!!!! Night and day!!!!! So I would say bmc upgrade is a must.

Also I would strongly recommend getting a rebuild kit for what ever calipers u go with. 1-realibility is a must with brakes. 2-u have no idea what condition they are in until u install them, step on the brakes and find out it leaks. Rebuild kits are cheap. I rebuilt my 300zx ones. With all seals and all new hardware it was like $150 from dealership. A great investment

Nice, you got all that for a killing! Talk about a deal.

I rebuilt the 300zx brakes I have on my car now. Got a deal on em, got a buddy that works at a Nissan Dealer in the parts department. The brembo rebuilds are pretty expensive. They're around $95 to $110 per caliper depending where you get em.

Wow that's expensive, but unless u know where the breaks came from and there condition I would recomend rebuilding them. Don't cut corners! Lol

well my chassis was auto to begin with, so i had the auto brake booster, i driven one with the manual booster and it just requires a little more pedal effort, but not much. yeah the brake fill the rims nicly. u need to run 17ich or bigger or it wont fit. the caliper looks small in pics but infront of u its no joke. my hydro ebake is mounted in the stock location, so it will be like pulling a stock ebrake but instant lock!!!!

So you wud definately need 18" wheels to fit the brembo's??? also on that other forum i saw that a dude made it fit wit +35mm offset....what offset would you guys recommend??

naw with the brembos they will just clear 17inch wheels. offset im not sure but u will also have to take into fact of wheel width and also the wheel face. offset isnt everything!!

this is how it looks on 17(unkown specs)

Evo comes factory with 17's. They will clear, I've got fn01rc's, there is plenty of room between the wheel face and the caliper.

Here's mine:

Yeah, but drftnr14 has the 300zx brakes with a 350z rotor. A much larger rotor requires the caliper to be moved further away from the hub, which is why he had to use a bracket.

The clearances we were talking about is using either a 350z Brembo or the Evo Brembo which will be installed on my other car.

no the piston/ brake pad is 100% fully in contact with the rotor. pointless how so?

It looks fine to me, yeah the rotor does look big for the caliper, but doesn't look as though it's not covering the pad. The rotor doesn't sit flush to the top of the caliper even with stock 300zx rotors.

if u look at the space between the caliper and the braking surface on the rotor, your using maybe half the rotor, which makes the rest of the rotor dead mass

you sir have a very good Point.. i wasnt going to say anything about that.. but hey you did..lol.. the brake pad is ment to bite as much of the rotor as posible... if 25% of the pad is not making contact there can be long term problems etc... damn at least i learned something from mechanic school..lmao

true statement, it is dead weight, but from not having any brakes to the $350 it cost me to all 4 corners its worth it, its not worse then regular 300zx brakes.

braking is about leverage, and having a larger diameter rotor with give the car better stopping power. I want to either go with the supra rotors or the 350z tracks. I use to have some concern about the pad not being as big as the rotor but the advantages out way the disadvantage(verysmall)
