air intake...

so i got the greddy intake setup with the shiny piping and short intake arm with that half round looking filter thing. now i find my car driving flawlessly night time. going really fast really quick. the intake is approximately a foot behind the driver headlight side. there is no duct for air to force into the intake. when i punch the pedal it takes a a moment for car to start speeding. if i compose a duct for the intake, will my RESPONSE be quicker? any other tips on how to make reponse quicker is appreciated.

What motor?

LAst time I checked Greddy doesn't make an Intake for the KA24DE but I could be wrong. I been out the game for 4yrs and I see alot has changed. I'm thinking he has an SR, if so...

Alum pully's
Alum flywheel
Alum Driveshaft
Better turbo or just up your boos t if you have a BC

All these things should help with response. If your turbo is not kicking in the you will have no respnse period. Mine kicks in @2900+ rpm... If you have a KA-T then response should not be a problem, KA-T's spool faster then SR's. I hope ths helps you

oh, sorry...i have a manual s14 sr20det. stock turbo. how can reponse be quicker if i have stock turbo? when i punch it i want it to go, not wait then it goes. i got boost set at 8 and 12. i dont really feel the 12. so pulleys and aluminum stuff. what about making an air duct for the intake? yay or nay? just wanna do budget upgrades for my goal here, bigger turbo is too much. i have fmic. anything else? thanks alot guys.

just clutch in, free rev it, then dump the clutch. itll get to boost faster haha. itll tear up the clutch fast and anyone riding with you will think you are a reh-tard.

response isnt what turbo cars are about, its all about that surge of boost.

make sure throttle body is clean (if not clean throttle plate) may quicken response

and also do air induction system clean

If you don't want spool lag get a super charger lol if you want higher end boost stick with the turbo but don't complain about the lag it will always be semi-noticeable

on the flip side, i wouldn't make a duct for it either at all ever. never. unless its coming from some kinda scoop high up. if you ever get caught in a storm and theres a deeper-than-you-think puddle, that u think you can make it across because the SUV in front of you did, then it will act like a straw and presto, a good excuse to get an ls1. hydro lock. it happened to a buddy of mine. bone stock ish mustang bullit with a factory air box and duct and sllluuurrpp. it didn't hydro lock but it sounded like a bunch of legos in the clothes drier.
