And he said I couldnt do it...

Oh I know. just wondering price range. 500 isnt too bad for what it could save. but the question is...would I be a good enough welder to invest the mony into the equipment.

Basically to learn welding I would recommend the cheapest Lincoln MIG that uses gas. Flux-core welding is no fun, and it almost always looks dookie. craisglist always has some good deals on entry level MIG's in the tri-county area. Like $200 will get you a gas MIG that runs on 120v and you can make nice welds on steel. $500 will get you a nice used MIG that you can switch polarity and use different gas to weld aluminum too.

try aluminum foil then i will be impressed

I can do it. The sides of my arizona cans were .0007" thick and I welded them side to side in the valley not end to end. Theres a trick to it and im not telling.:p

Try razor blades with the sharp edges together with out burning the tips away....

Try 1" long paper clips side to side with out distorting the wire.....

ok the paper clip would be a hard one.. not saying that the others arent but that would have to be the hardest of them all
