Anybody here coat their undercarriage?

So since there is no exhaust, transmission, or driveshaft under my car ATM (and will remain that way for another two weeks), im thinking this is a perfect chance to coat the bottom of my car

I dont know too much about this, but i do know it prevents rust, and can also help a little bit with deadening some of the noise

I was wondering if anyone here has done this, and what theyve used, and what theyve gotta say about it
 
most people wont/dont since that shit normaly adds a fair amount of wieght and since so many people try to reduce wieght they wont do it.

if you are trying to prevent rust just painting would be good.
 
yea u can go to pepboys and get whats called udercoating... its in a spray can u will probably need 2 to do the entire car... dont touch it when its wet but when it dries it looks factory
 
Yeah, im really thinking about doing it if it isnt too expensive since this is a perfect opportunity

Do i need to buy degreaser and get all the gunk off the bottom of the car and clean the crap out of it first? Or should i be good just hosing every thing down, focusing more on the built up areas

the better the prep the better the stuff will stick. so if you can degrease it scrub it and the presure wash it off i would. just make sure you let it dry up before applying the stuff.

put your car up on jack stands as high as possible but be safe and pressure wash it dont use a hose you need a pressure washer
 
Seriously if your taking the undercoat off your car or not maintaining the undercoat because of weight.
You really need to get a reality check, and stop watching F&F.

How much do 2 cans of rubberized coating weigh??

Most of all, all that time and $$ you put into your car wont disintergrate.

My 1st S13 had a lot of rust in the frame rails etc...
My $600 exhaust was blasted by a raised manhole because the mount rusted off and let my shyt hang.

it wont help if the shit is already rusted its rust pervention
