Anybody think they know what this problem is?

So i FINALLY get my car back running, after 6 months (fucking september) of not driving my car and it just sitting in my garage being parked, and im loving it so much even tho i have no AC or radio i could care less right now, im so happy to be driving it

so i take 441 north to okechobe, then that to A1A and then back south to boca, which if anybody knows, past like midnight, its completley empty and its a badass joyride road

so im coming back west on glades and then i downshift from 3rd to second at like 30 or less mph to a red light, and yes i know how to rev match, the rpms go to like 3.5 or 4k (could tell by sound), but the needle jumped up past redline and twitched for like a split second. i was like wtf?

so while i was stopped at the red light, i reved it in neutral and right at like 5.5k the needle jumps way into redline and is like totally not acurate

after that i noticed a couple times the car would hesitate just like it did when i badly needed new spark plugs

So anyways, i didnt do anything stupid to mess up the car, and its completley random how it happend, but does anybody know what the problem could be? for now im just gonna 100% drive the car civil, but i wanna know what the hell happend

the guage cluster is prob on its way out unless when your reved it the motor actually went with the gauge

idk but now it misfires like crazy any time i go over 3k, and even when i dont go over, it still misfires a lot

as far as the misfiring part, this happened when i needed new spark plugs, and the new spark plugs fixed them

so the only thing i can think of is either

A i need new spark plugs again, and theres somthing wrong with my new engine why its going through spark plugs so fast

or B, i used NGK's, but they werent platinum tipped, and it says right in the engine bay to make sure you use platinum tipped plugs, could this have anything to do with it? they were fine for the total of like 8 days i drove the car with the new plugs, today would be like the 9th day total since like 2 months ago since i got the new engine in and replaced the plugs

is it turbo?
maf sensor dirty/not working maybe
boost leak/loose coupler/cut in coupler
ecu short/wiring issue
getting shitty or weak spark/wiring issue.

the plugs seem fine, as long as u gapped them right, even if thye come pre-gapped you should check them cuz store people drop boxes sometimes which might hit the tip and change the gap.... stranger shit has happened.

Would it be a good idea to buy that MAF cleaner from discount auto and see if that helps? or will that just be a waste of money and time

electric parts cleaner cost like $4

worth it

forgot to answer earlyer question, its just a stock n/a KA, no boost

and that same company makes a bottle just like thats specifically for cleaning a MAF, its like $7.46 or somthing

i know it wouldnt hurt to clean it, but i dont have ANY money right now so thats money id have to beg my mom for

i spent my last bit of change on a gapper tool thingy, im about to go figure out howto use that

edit:
Ok well i got that broken spark plug out, put some new platinum tipped ones in, and i used the plug wires from my old KA, since i never had any problems with that one

i only took it for a 3 minute test drive, i had to get on it a little and it had to go past 4k for me to notice it misfiring, so idk if it misfires less or if its just cooincidence

but new plugs and the wires from my old engine which were fine didnt fix anything, so im gusesing maybe its somthing with my distributor?

anyone?

ok well i also tryed unplugging each fuel injector to see if any of them were bad, all of them had an effect on the engine, so im guessing its not related to that

i went ahead and bought a z32 fuel filter since mine is kinda rusted, im gonna see if that does anything which i doubt it will but who knows... it wont hurt

im wondering if its my MAF? i just dont wanna spend a shit load of money on a new MAF and then thats not the problem

any ideas on what else it could be?

just the needle goes, idk what rpm the engine goes to, it sounds like the rpms bounce but it definatley does not go past redline

what makes you say that?

im probably gonna swap the distributor from my old ka that never gave me problems, and hopefully that will fix this.. if not then i have no idea... im just gonna have to figure out how to time it

well... time to do research on how a distributor works and what each part does!

are you running any control units like a super afc? also if your burning through your spark plugs so fast it would deff be a good idea to triple check all your ignition parts, make sure all the wiring under the hood isnt frayed or torn up, you might have a live wire touching the block as well, so a grounding kit might help. All just friendly suggestions ^_^ good luck man i know how it is working on a car broke lol

nope, everything is stock the only aftermarket parts i have on my car are springs, hubs, and some ebay tower bar, none of which would affect this

ill look around the harness to make sure nothing is frayed, but im probably gonna miss stuff

and gene, by messing with the harness, do you mean just like tugging it and making sure everything is plugged in tight?

ok theres a big difference in hearing the car at 4k and 7k! if u c the niddle match the the sound... theres no problem. now if the niddle DOES NOT match the sound of the engine revving. then u got a problem. bt rite now. u dont even know wtf ur engine sounds like. post a vid or somethin.

didnt you JUST quote me saying that the engine definatley doesnt rev up that high and its just the needle?

ill try to get a video or somthing
