Here it is folks, the Apple iPad. The screen is gorgeous, tilting is responsive, and the thing is super thin. Still, if you've used the iPhone before -- and you can see the two devices side-by-side here -- there's not a lot of surprises here so far. Here are some initial thoughts on the iPad:

* It's not light. It feels pretty weighty in your hand.
* The screen is stunning, and it's 1024 x 768. Feels just like a huge iPhone in your hands.
* The speed of the CPU is something to be marveled at. It is blazingly fast from what we can tell. Webpages loaded up super fast, and scrolling was without a hiccup. Moving into and out of apps was a breeze. Everything flew.
* There's no multitasking at all. It's a real disappointment. All this power and very little you can do with it at once. No multitasking means no streaming Pandora when you're working in Pages... you can figure it out. It's a real setback for this device.
* The ebook implementation is about as close as you can get to reading without a stack of bound paper in your hand. The visual stuff really helps flesh out the experience. It may be just for show, but it counts here.
* No camera. None, nada. Zip. No video conferencing here folks. Hell, it doesn't have an SMS app!
* It's running iPhone OS 3.2.
* The keyboard is good, not great. Not quite as responsive as it looked in the demos.
* No Flash confirmed. So Hulu is out for you, folks!

Great product for my parents or anyone wanting a simple web browsing/PDF viewer/email device, etc...

I'll wait for the iphone refresh this summer. If that thing doesn't have a CPU comparable to the Android snapdragons coming out, I will be assimilated to the Android...

you know android already has a phone out running the snapdragon CPU right?
 
That i do, but they have nicer ones coming out. The current snapdragon phones are pretty weak imo. I also dont want anything with a kb or a cheeseball scroll ball...

What HTC needs to do is stop dicking around with winmo, and throw android on their HD2. Thats the only HTC i would consider, IF it had android.

You seen the htc supersonic? Hopefully it comes out with full GSM radio so we can choose tmo or att...

I like my ATT service; but i would switch to TMO if they offer a better phone. Time will tell...
 
Yea I have the nexus and so far i love it.The HD2 would be sick with android, there are some developers that are working on it now. Ive heard of the supersonic and it seems like a hoped up version of the mytouch
 
well if i remember correctly, there is a chinese company with a product with that name, and I read that they are planning to Sue Apple for copyright infraction or someshit,

The guy who makes up the names for Apple must be SO fucked right about now.

anyway this product will fail, why!? 40 dollar subscription to use net, and other shit. so Its just a bigger Iphone with mods. = failpod
 
i dont see any value in this product myself, but i dont agree with the speculation.

the assumption that this product will fail is ridiculous. we dont know if the intent was to simply create media buzz while the next iwhateverthefuck is being developed. it could already be a success to apple. in fact, apple stock has risen recently with the release anticipation. also, apple may not have expected to sell many at all. maybe this product was designed and targeted primarily for the apple zealots.
 
Stop arguingin bitches........ I'm pretty sure that huge ass iphone can be hacked and in that case it can run shit in the background. Yes iPhone is FTW, Yes Droid can compare, and No Droid is not fucking with the iPhone. Besides the iPhone almost every other phone I use fails hard, 1 because they make it touch screen and then rely on the user to adjust the sensors and get it correct. 2 because their OS usually has bugs and microsoft/linux/or whoever doesn't upgrade the firmware on a daily. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Apple is not on top due to being the trendy newest shit on the block. They are on top because they offer the best service to the customer. People will much rather by a service and experience oppose to a product and direction booklet. With that being said end this dumb arguement.

why would you want to carry this thing around, I think thats the real question. Aside from all the closed platform bullshit. when and why would you bring this thing with you anywhere. Over priced junk go buy a kindle and an iphone(or a nexus one) and you'll still have money left over....

I agree, if I were to buy this in the future it would never see the world around my house. Its only purpose in my eyes is to be strictly internet and the apps it has available but in all honesty its not realistic for a bussiness kinda guy. my .02
