bad day on the dyno

i dont think u fucked up a piston or a ring .. if is clacking or tacking from the hear most likely sounds like a head problem probably a rocker

He most likely needed the rocker arm stopers. The tuner should have advised him that, but probably forgot to ask him if he had any.

Moe stop lying you have a SAFC2 on the S15!!!!

You know the S15 can push up to 35psi of bost with the afc2 right??? But it has to be the Jap spec one:rolleyes:

There is a reason that whatever happened, happened. Until we know what's up and have some pics under that valve cover, speculation is pointless. Whatever the problem was, I can guarantee that unless you were bouncing off the rev limiter repeatedly, rocker arm stoppers would have made no difference. Many argue whether they do anything at all.

Lol yeah I know we talked about the afc moe, I'm not saying that you said it was perfectly fine, yeah we did have the whole talk about the timing issue. But after the base run that's when shit hit the fan cuz run number 2 we already lost like 50 hp an it startted cutting up at 5k rpms. An yeah moe ima call u up if anything an maybe u can check it out.

An yeah I'm hoping nothing happend piston wise. It didn't sound like it the clacking sound was come heavely from the top an when putting ur hand on the valve cover u can def feel something in there that wasn't right.

As soon as I pull the valve cover ill take pics an post them. So I can get some opinions on thing. An hopefully soon it'll be fixed an up an running again.

i havent been able to pull the valve cover off the car today due to the rain all day long. but i wa doing research an saw a few video of s14 sr's with very similar knocking clanking sound, an they said it was the vct sprocket, can anyone tell me if this could be a possibility?

an is it true that to see if that is the problem you unplug the soleniod an the sound should go away.

i have heard of the vtc sprocket making noise but i dont think it will go away if you unplug the solenoid unless it only makes the noise from 5000 rpm and above if it does it at iidle than it wont go away when you unplug try it and post response.

ok so i just came back inside after removing the valve cover, guess what i find.....nothing, everything is intact, no loose metal, no nothing.

so i put the valve cover back on an decide to fire up the car, it started knocking for a second, an u can feel it in the valve cover. then i shut off the car. i start it back up an nothing. car sounds an runs fine, no sound no knocking no nothing.

so i belive my problem can be the intake cam, that vct rattle that is commonly mistaken for knocking.

any input would be helpful.
thanks guys

yes sir that the sound, sound like hell.

i freaked the f**k out when i heard that. i was like oh noooooooo:eek:

but it went away today, why is it that they go bad?

Man I beat the hell out of my s14 sr and never had any problems with me Head or VTC.

Finally the Crank bearing let go after 50,000 miles of drifting.

I might be needing the vtc sprocket bill.

An yeah, I'm guessing this motor has had its share or wear an tear. When I got the car the owner said it had 80k miles. An god knows how those 80k miles have been made.

But I'm just sooooooo glad its not anything broken that could have destroyed the motor.

just a simple sugestion..i dont know if you did this but inspect the bottom of the valve cover for any wear or metal rub

s13 heads w/ s 14 valve covers have different clearances...or vice versa
