well i have an fc. i was told to get at least a 650 cranking amp battery. i got a 690ca and it turned on....then i turned it off and it wouldnt start. so i waited a while and tried again. it work so i turned it off again to do something and it wouldnt turn on again. it trys to turn over but doesnt. the car has been sitting for a while so idk if that could be part of the problem. i see the voltage going down each time i try to turn it on. but after i leave it it kinda charges up a little. anyone know how many cranking amps i need??

i think my optima redtop has 750 cca. and that turns over my ka just fine and lasts for ever.. Your battery should be fine. id check the terminal connections and grounds going to the engine before i change a new battery. Umm keep in mind that CCA is different from CA.

yea the cca is less. cold craking amps. i heard 650 ca not cca. idk if mine is too small. imma go try to turn it on again :bigthumbu:bigthumbu

check your alternator. it could read 12 v with the key on then drop to 9v which isnt enough to start the car. check ohms the alternator pins are giving out at idle and wot

test with multimeter

_ -----multimeter (a)

(c)| |-------multimeter (b)

^alternator connector

A---B

idle: 0.95-1k
wot: 4k-6k

A----C
idle: 4k-6k
wot: 4k-6k

if any on these readings are off, you need an alternator:bigthumbu

but it didnt even read 12v with the key. it turned on 2 times though but no more luck. how much is an alternator for this car??

about 120 i think. dont get a s4 tho. it only has 70 amps. the s5 and fd alt. have 80amps.

well i started it today and it was above 12 volts while driving. after about 30 mins of driving it i got home and turned it off. i turned the key and it was a little under 12 volts with the key. it turned on but kinda strugling but it turned over. i think i need a bigger battery. also the postitive line for the battery looks like a thick amp line. says high amp or soemthing. its red. maybe i need alot of amps to turn on this car.

on the good side. its really the first time i drive this car all out. this shit is fast. 9800 rpm with no problem. built to the face :) :bigthumbu awsome car i love it
