Beginners at Punta Gorda event?

Jen

Driver
Any beginners going to Punta Gorda event? I'm thinking about going... this would be my first. Will I need a helmet for these events? Or any prerequisites for the car?

punta gorda is not beginner friendly. if you have autocross or racing experience its not as bad but a straight up beginner its a NO NO. concrete wall around the whole track. how far are you from Naples i foget where braenton is?

its fine for beginners as long as you stay on the bottom and middle of the track and dont try to get on to the banking.

Damn guys she bought the car last week and just found out what drifting was a few months ago. and its a 350z i would rather her not lose that car and start off on a parking lot event.

I agree.. goto Moroso July 7th wayy seems more beginner friendly and its eazy on the car + tires = easy on wallet :D

I have friends coming in for July 4th week... so, I may not make it to Moroso...that's why Punta Gorda would have been my first. I will attempt to be at Moroso though.

Do I need a helmet for these events?

I'll probably be a big chicken anyway... and won't get the speed up to go anywhere near a wall. I just want to get comfortable with driving the car and maybe go just a little bit sideways.

Yes you are required to have a helmet. There's also a tech inspection but I doubt a 350z would have any trouble passing it.

Oh u can count on that.......and will be very pleased to give people instructions or help in any way possible! :D

too bad i'm leaving and can't drive either. its okay tho, gonna spread the sfl love in ohio.

just watch that z on the wall and you'll be fine. unless you can get to moroso, which seems like its alot friendlier to beginners.

i drove there w/ 1 event under my belt literally throwing my car at the wall...i was scared shitless the first few times but its actually very hard to hit that wall unless you're being reckless...stick to the infied and low/inside on the turns if you must. Great experience, good fun, amazing people!

Punta Gorda, I can't wait to hit a new track!! I heard they have an X???? I don't know, I do know that I will be barbequein' some tires on that bank.

P.S. Harri, you and mike peters should do some tandem for the crowd!!!
