Big problem with the 240

Okay so this has been going on for the passed two weeks and maybe someone can think of something.

Okay so I Have a 91 240 ka and a couple of weeks ago I started it up leaving work and it was running on 3 cylindors out of no where. Had no signs of anything b4. So found out it was getting compression and fuel but no fuel.....so I started the process of elimination. replaced plugs and wires, then cap, rotor and finally distributor....and manually timed it. still not the problem. so finally I didnt have anymore ideas so I took it to a shop. said it was a fuel injector....replaced that. Started running fine was running on a low idle but would stay running. So I figured I would just hit it with a timing light later on. So I drove it up to the store and went to go start it back up and wouldnt start. Would turn over like it was going to start but didnt. Finally got it starting for a little bit to get it on the tow truck and was running very rough and you could smell alot of full.

So I think I could just be the timing needs to be redone and that would solve the problem. I think the timing is really off and that its dumping the fuel in at the wrong time and thats why you smell fuel. what do you guys think? Because other than that im out of ideas.

I think the seal on your injector is broken. The o-ring that goes at the tip of the injector thats probably why you smell the fuel. Check for fuel leaks and try to spot any obious fuel hoses that may look craked( return fuel hose, fuel presure regulator hose, and fuel filter top hose and bottom hose).

Please try to give us as much details to see if it could be something else. But thats my guess.

or if u can get the car running try and spray alittle break cleaner around where the injector is and see if the motor drops or raises its rpms then youll know its not electrical it would be a seal

but even if that was the problem the car would still run just on 3 cylindors...its running on all 4 cylindors just really rough if it runs at all...thats why I think its most likely the timing. Or thats all I can conclude too.

Did u even mess with the timing?? just try checking what i said cause i had the same problem could be a vacume leak.....

Obviously replacing the injector allowed the engine to run better you fixed one issue. Im not 100% sure that both of the issues you have had are related to each other. Are the spark plugs wet? Are you getting spark now? Have you tried unplugging the mass airflow sensor and starting the car? If you are still having an issue with the injector that was replaced it would still run on three cylinders and the engine will start, but now its not starting at all. Check all fuses, make sure they have power to both terminals with a test light.

did u try replacing ur fuel filter? it does wounders my fuel filter was so dirty that the fuel was black imagine that... and filter was clogged like hell.. try that or i will do a full tune up i had the same prob... i did a full tune up and im running stronger than before
