i got an 89 sohc and im having trouble bleeding the p/s, is there a specific way to do this, so far the only info i got is to put the front wheels in the air and turn lock to lock, done it twice, while it did not work it did take in more fluid

the pump should be good, im thinking of taking the banjo bolt out and pouring fluid straight into the pump

-Add Fluid
-Turn wheels side to side
-Take the wheels as far as possible without locking
-Don't lock the wheels
-Repeat 2x-3x or as many as needed

If the pump remains noisy then you can suspect you have a line that is leaking, or that the pump itself is ready to take a shit...

when i changed to royal purple PS fluid i disconnect one of the metal lines from the rack turn the wheels when it was empty. Then poured royal purple all the way full then flushed it empty again and filled it all the way back up and was good to go but i never had a noise i just swapped to royal purple cause it doesn't bubble.

depending on what you changed, you may need to keep doing it, for example if you changed the whole rack, then you need to fill the lines, reservoir, pump, and whole rack with new fluid, which means it will take a lot and a lot of turning. as long as its not leaking then keep filling it as it needs it

i got tired of doing it cause nothing was happening and i kinda like the half stiff half assisted feel i got now so i say fuck it for now, thanks for the responses guys

if its only half ass assisted you need replace the pump most likely. When I bleed them out. I overfill the reservior, then let the motor run for a minute or two, but I dont turn the wheel, I just let it circulate on its on. Shut the engine off and let the air bubbles go away. Do it again one more time. Then with the wheels in the air I run the motor and just got a little turns, not full lock to lock, shut off and the let the bubbles go away. Then I will go big turns, let it rest, then take the car for a drive.
