Blown Something??

if you never overheated the car, then it shouldn't be warped. I blew my headgasket and made sure i didn't overheat and the head fine. It was well under the factory spec

evidently it was bad enough. :ugh:

I dunno, the other ka toasted when you were going to orlando when a hose poped off. This one blew a head gasket. How many sohc's did you kill? I think I see a trend. Be more carefull?

How many of your cars had electrical fans?

I never had serious issues with the SOHC that was in this car... it ran right untill I pulled it.

it also always had an electric fan.

All the engines I blew were in the other coupe that I ended up selling.

Um.. I killed 2 SOHCs, and 1 DOHC in that car.

I was checking my coolant level on the SR every 2 days and everything was great, I just think I had some bad luck and the 16YO headgasket went into retirement...

Also I'm kinda thinking the reason it overheated that day was I did not warm it up like I usually do and when I hit boost the coolant in the engine got to hot before the thermostat opend and so the tempsensor for the electric fan did not kick in untill it was to late...

That's my educated guess anyway...

Yeah that would make it the electric fans fault... STFU :p

Nah it wouldnt do that. By not warming up the engine the bearings and everything moving has not expanded into specified tolerences. Dosent have anything to do with what you were saying. Just beats on things wearing greater clearances until you toss a rod.

If you notice that the car is not heating up, yea stop and turn that thing off. You should start to see the temp gauge start to go up after a little over a minute of driving. If you dont, the temp sensor is getting a false reading.

:chair: Being late for work one day is not reason to jump the gun and get into boost before the engine has thoughly warmed up. I hardly ever let my car idle until its warmed up ever. Although in the morning I dont go over 3k rpms and dont load the engine more then -5 inches of vac until its warmed up.

who the hell knows what you did that morning, but ya did it, and ya did it good.

lol im telling you, CLUTCH FAN FTW!! rick knows.. he blew heater hose in the back of the motor and we drove from I75 and US27 back to his house and didnt blow nothing up lol

B.S u just need to know how to properly wire it so u never have problems like me :bigthumbu

Yeah I had a electric fan on the supra when I bought it and it always ran hot then it finnally started to overheat with that fan I had to srounge up a fan off a 81 cressida to put on there. always runs cool now Clutch fan FTW
