BRAKE LIGHT has me stumped!

OK here is the deal:
My brake light is lite up and my battery light is very dimmly lite also. From my previous experience with Nissan that tells me the alternator is toast. So I check it. Checks fine. I check the battery. Good also. When I idle or hold the car at a constant RPM while driving the lights go out. When the RPM drops right back on. I changed the alternator this morning. Same thing. It is a used alternator so Im going to go have it checked shortly. BUT the battery light is no long on! Jus the brake light doing the same on/off thing. It also gives of a BUZZing sound when the brake light is on, coming from the cluster.

ANY IDEAS?

I'd say check your grounds. also check the wires maybe clean them from the brake master cyclinder, also check the back of the cluster for any loos wires. Thats all i can think of.

yeah zak, i got the same ****, even when i had the ka, and i had that new alternator on the ka

Ha....nissans (waiting for mas flaming and Rotary jokes) lol

Did you do what S13Slide suggested? If so did it work or are you still having the problem?

Alright heres another possibility. On the brake pedal where the brake light switch is theres a little rubber grommet that sometimes falls off. It used to cause my brake lights to stay on and the light on the dash. It also drained my battery. Also theres a little plug on the master cylinder that reads the brake fluid level, that could be faulty.

Good Luck

BRAKE FLUID IS FULL. I'm not a n00b. It isnt the gromet. The brake light on the cluster is on not the tail lights.

Just becuase the brake fluid is full dosnt mean the master cylinder sensor is working, clean and make sure everything is good in the wire connector, Also CHECK THE GROUND WIRE, nissan may have put retard system to tell the driver is the sensor is getting a fualty ground, to fix the ground. To my knowledge, since its only the brake light in the guage cluster that is staying on then that means its the connector for the master cylinder fluid warning light, also check inside the brake master cylinder float sometimes they get stuck in the "LOW" position. Also chekc behind the guage cluster, maybe the wires for the light are touching a power wire or something, you never know. Do you have ABS? If you do your going to be looking for answers for awhile, I HATE ABS!!!

H E L L N O! NO ABS FOR LIFE!

^alright go back and check all the wires, ground, sensors, coming from the brake master cylinder fluid sensor, the back of the guage cluster, the button for the brake pedal, brake master cylinder float, and also the ebrake button and wires. If all checks out ok then theres nothing else I can think of.

yea i have the same issue. its apparently a nissan issue. one day it will be lit the other it wont.

It isnt the E Brake. Brake fluid none of that! It is some sort of electrical problem. Latly instead of going away while cruising it flickers buzzing and such. The BAttery light still is faintly on.

any one wana buy a flickering and buzzing light remover lemme know they r 79.99$$$

im just joking but damn that sucks about the whole light thing
