brakes squealing like crazy

car is a 91 240 hatch out of nowhere this morning after driving to my dads hearing absolutely nothing. i park go inside then about 20 min later i get in my car to leave start driving and the rear brakes are squealing like fucking crazy just the rear so i pull up the ebrake and it goes away for a little but the left rear brake is still squealing? anyone have a slight idea of whats going on?
 
like a month before i bought the car the brakes were done id say about 8 months ago it seems more like they are locking up
 
while you kids were bickering i was outside taking the brakes apart i am indeed in need of new rear pads
 
Omg i didnt know brakes are wear and tear items.. i could of swear they last forever and a half..
 
I know right!!!! :bigthumbu nah they need replacing i wasn't sure when they were replaced until i found a receipt from the previous owner
 
You might want to check the papers for the brake work, is it for front and rear brakes, just front brakes, or just rear? You need to make sure, the rear brakes should last a lot longer than that. (Unless you're poppin the E-brake every 30 seconds.) If your driving habits are "normal," and you don't abuse the car too often, then you should suspect something wrong with the calipers, M.cylinder, or E-brake since one of the things may be causing your brakes to drag, or wear improperly.
 
yeah only the front was replace and the rear definitely seems like its dragging but when i looked at the pads the were bad
 
If the brakes were dragging, you would have probably noticed.
-Loss of power
-Loss in MPG
-Excessive heat coming from the rear brakes/tires
-A smell of "hot brakes" associated with the excessive heat.
(Can't really describe the smell, but you should be able to determine where it would be coming from)
-Improperly worn pads, or pads that are worn too quickly. (Especially if one pad is worn a lot more than the other pad on the same brake/wheel)
-Hot spots/glazing on the rotors or pads
-Possible pulling under braking

If you have had the E-brake tightened recently or at any time at all, check if it has been overtightened.

Also, if you think you may have a bad caliper, please check all the brake lines. (Soft lines and hard lines) You can have a pinched line, or a worn rubber hose.
 
I'm going to go over everything tomorrow morning thanks bro! I know i tightened my e brake a while back but i haven't touched it since

ok so after a whole day of messing with the brakes nothing has changed
