i have a ca18det and everytime im driving it keeps on cutting off on me .i would think the problem is a crank sensor. what do you guys think ?

How do you know if it is the crank sensor? Does the car start and then shuts off? does it happen while your driving?

yes papo it does cut off & it does happen while im driving ... !

Ok, driving on the street going 30mph, or at idle?. When was the last time you got a tune up on the car? I don't think the crank angle sensor is to blame for the car shutting off. Does it make any kind of nosie? are you able to start it right away after it shuts off?
 
Did u check for error codes? Very important.

If u go to nico and post in the ca section u will get alittle more help. Not many ppl on this forum have ca18s. other then u and myself and maybe 2 others.

Does it matter if the car is cold? Does throttle input make a difference. Could be a loose connection to the battery or the ecu plug is not on tight. Also when the ignitor goes bad, they give problems when the car is hot. Not normally shutting off though.
 
no it does not make noise it just cuts off but it starts after that. i just did a tune up on it .in the past it over heateed but i fixed that problem ....

UMMM.... if it starts right away I woldn't think it could be a battery porblem nore a alternator going bad. You replaced the fuel filter right? does it smell like gas when you pop the hood? You say it dosen't over heat at all!!!!??? Do you see any fuel leaking from the injectors? To me it sounds like your not getting enough fuel into the system.

no it doesnt smell like gas & its not over heating at all either but its cool no biggie i'll look at the cadet manual :p
