Hey guys, so its about that time again. I figured hell i've had the SOHC KA, DOHC KA, SR20DET. Figured now was the time to go a different route. Been reading up on the CA18DET swaps. Very intriguing motor, Cast Iron block, RB Family native.
So I figured what the hell why not. Motors are very cheap (even if it goes boom can replace it with another one cheap) can buy 2 CA18's compared to price of 1 SR20DET.

Ive been doing some research on the motor before I go buying a motor and dropping it in. Take note I am not aiming to make over 400 HP on this. Would like to have a relatively reliable / quick car. would like to make around 250 -275 whp area.
Tring to see if any of you guys on here know what parts I should replace or go aftermarket on to keep her strong and healthy. I know that I will not see any good numbers out of the CA's T25 turbo what would u reccomend to achive at least mid 200's

So what do you guys have to say. What should I address first also what should I be on the look out for?

Any Info welcome.

t28, 550 cc injectors, z maf, 14 lbs, tune and you should see something like 210-220. i may be wrong. hit up nunook hes the CA man

Consider the age of the engine, service accordingly. Obviously check compression, but I'd say be more thorough and run a leak down test.

If it were me building it, I'd have the head serviced right off the bad and replace all seals, gaskets, the water pump, thermostat, and the oil pump. I'd also consider replacing the coil packs. Actually I would just not buy a CA lol.

i personally think they are great engines good overall balance for the car, alot of space in the engine bay to work with. rb family all the way

Yeah was thinking about that but they are basically the same age as Redtop SR20s. Im considering buying a rebuild kit for it. just so I KNOW the engine will be 100% fresh. but yeah i did same stuff to my SR20 when i got it. minus rebuilding it.
