You can find the total number cars in the US for that year.
Or contact the dmv of California to find out how many were registered in 97.

that were sold in cali that had specific diagnostic codes for California models only

I want to know the production numbers for the cail model, nd I couldn't find it on the internet, I was wondering if anyone happen to know, I Know the production numbers for 97 were very low and are highly sought after. I want to know how many were made, sold w\e
 
For a car like that, it seriously makes ZERO difference if it was made for cali or not. All the stuff on it would actually just make the car suck more than an average 240.
