Sup guys posting this on here hoping some of you might have any knowledge/experience/information about this situation. Called the DMV and its a Kafkaesque hell of misinformation

-If a car is towed, how many days does the towing company have to have it before they auction it? If they auction it, can anything be done to get it back and prevent it from being sold?

A friend left for Ecuador for the summer and left his car here...it was towed. Apparently it is now gonna be auctioned. The towing company, Haul-o-Way say that nothing can be done, there's no way to get it back, etc etc.

Is that b.s on their part or can anything be done? I know the storage fees probably exceed the car's value...but are there any other options?

thanks

Just let it go IMO.
Trying to fight the towing companies is a pain in the ass.
Especially because more than %90 of the time, they know what they're talking about(laws, permissions, etc)

Why park in an area where you could be towed to go out of the country? that seems kinda stupid. Unless they didn't have the right to tow it I doubt you can do anything.

I think for that to happen it needs to be 3 months for them to go and issue the title of the car and claim the ownership of the car.

So is it 30 or 90 days? I've been looking for that shit all over the internet and haven't found it. You would think Florida abandoned vehicle laws would be one google search away...

Problem is he has always parked it at my house when he leaves to visit his family in the summer. But this time he left it with another friend....apparently they parked it in the visitors space and didnt move it or whatever so it was towed.

The car is not worth much, its a 2002 Kia Sportage. Its more the sentimental value of the car and whatnot...I am 95% sure the car was towed less than 30 days ago and thats why Im looking for this info...the towing company was a bitch when my friend (the one responsible) went there...didn't even want to admit they had the car!

i had the same thing happen, it should be 30 days according to the state, also they should of sent u a official notice saying they were in possession of it

30 days i got arrested and my car impounded did 21 days in jail get out go to get my car back and they had sold it already. i got bank from it cause they didnt wait the 30 days and cause they sold it to the owners kid. i was unable to get the car back but i did get a pretty big chunk of money but that all went to court costs LMAO

Holy shit thats fucked up...hope they got what was coming for them..

Fuck anyways from what I learned it has been more than 30 days since they towed the car...so I guess we're fucked :(

thanks for all the help and lesson learned:
towing companies are scumbags and will get raped in hell
