Causes of a misfire?

you all are retarted 1st even you vas you should know better.

1st step verify cylinder which you already did as 2.
2nd step see if there is spark present at # 2 wire if yes than check compression and fuel. to check injector the fast way on ka remove the rail and watch it spray, all should look even.
if there is no spark present then inspect cap and rotor.

honestly how does running on low gas pick up dirt??? the fuel pump is always suctioning gas from the bottom of the tank is it not??? correct me if im wrong, maybe it has a float in there, but if that was the case when you filled up the tank it would stir that shit up and get sucked in anyways. but ive never been inside a tank to see and never really understood it when people said that^

trust me ive had more injector problems than 99.9% of the ppl on this forum.. went through 2 rails in a matter of months.. (1 injector at a time) finally solved my problem a while back after i did a fuel system cleaning and been making sure to put gas before i went below a quarter tank.. and yes driving on very low gas will pic up dirt from your tank. mostly on cars as old as 240's

Adding to what Bill said, check for fuel spray/pattern AFTER you check for spark. Also, the injector should have 12 volts on one wire and the other wire is going to be a ground provided by the computer for a matter of milliseconds (You can't check this with a meter or test light). They do make special lights you can use called a "noid light" but most folks don't have them. A universal one may be available at your local parts store.

The wire that should have power on it is common to all cylinders (i.e. all your injectors get power on the same wire, from the same power source). You can also swap the injector from one cylinder to the next and then see if the misfire follows your injector or stays in that cylinder.

okay you guys have been a great help, just wanted to put that out there.

second, i just put in a 300zx fuel filter and still misfire.
tried checking just the #2 injector put i stripped one of the two screws.

sooo... anyone have a good KA fuel rail for sALE?

use a small set of vice grips thats what i had to do

Do you have spark on cyl 2?

yup.
tested spark directly from the dizzy cap AND from inside spark wire #2.
shocked myself a couple times:bigthumbu

and i'll try the vice grips later.

i mean it seems to have gotten better i raced an RSX type-S yesterday on 75 and didn't get pulled on THAT bad. those things are like KA's with Vtec =O

Do you have spark on cyl 2?

this!

i guess i just assumed that since you replaced the plug and wire that you had spark in cyl# 2, the first thing you should do is check for spark.
