CFRC Aftermath...better late then never edit

I stopped watching the moment dubstep starting playing. Sorry but I'm just sick of dubstep in drift videos.
the video. The event was awesome. I have yet to attend a bad CFRC event.
: l well I was going to go with slayer but then someone would have said metal sucks....
what did not like about the video? Critique welcome...
it generally sucked. too many shots of nothing happening, AWFUL music, bad framing of the shots, shaky filming, Me not being in it.

1; music, no bueno. I use dubstep in my stuff, but the horn thing was annoying.
2; the only drift production I have out so far, I did it without a tripod, so I get that. Just focus on getting one, or using something to stabilize, anything like using the wall or whatever. Or, get really good at stabilizing with tracking in AE.
3; Your transitions could be better, and next time don't use the black out idea for flicker. Use a glow and pulsate it, its easier on the eyes with the same effect.
My general opinion, is that you have the eye and you understand what you want to produce, but your filming is what is hindering you. Work on better transitions and find more flow in your work. Music should be better picked and it should match the flow of your video. Don't do a slow motion sweeping motion with high paced sound, and vice versa.
If someone else yells at me about my opinion strictly based on the fact that my PBIR video wasnt much better than this one, I will happily pull out another non drift related video to show I know what I am talking about.

Sorry to the other two that It wasn't to "your" standards as I am still trying to get a damn tripod, and cause I am not like everyone else with a D7.
I don't do this for a living, I am a technical artist, and I do not have much time to edit this footage( can be seen that I edited this in 4ish hours, 3 weeks after the event...)
Next event I will have better (and more stable footage) to work with, since heavy use of AE stabilizing causes issues with visual lag and parallax.

I'd say, each shot you have of no drifting (for example, scanning a parked car or showing someone changing a tire) is too long by a second or two. It was over a minute before you started showing any drifting, which is what most people want to see. If you maybe cut a few clips like that out (ex. the nos tent and people standing around=don't care) and shorten a few, and put more drifting in it, the video would already be a lot better. Don't worry too much about transitions yet since you arent pro. Just work on content and the ratio of action to no action. Think of it more like a movie where there is a beginning and an end and a climax in a sense instead of a series of clips.

Well I tend to edit the videos in a way where they follow the music.
During the slow parts of the song I show the non drift parts and during the drop and fast parts I show drifting. That's how I like to edit my videos and I think it does tend to separate me a bit from the other editors. I have seem many people that use this way of editing, as well as the "music is just background" way of editing. I think my last video was much better since I got a real good shot of the mustang getting its salad tossed by the wall( i was 5 feet away

The only things extra I'm going to add is.
Not having enough time to edit is not an excuse. That's 100% on you. You could have waited longer.
Also not having a tripod is not an excuse. You just need practice. I have all kinds of fancy expensive equipment and 90% of the time I'm shooting handheld. So don't think you need stuff to improve, it just takes practice.
The more you shoot and edit the better you will be. I can't even tell you how many events I've filmed and edited videos of and never released.

Soooo in other words you arent interested in critique?
well for me, I couldn't tell if the music went with the drifting or not because I was too busy skipping through it after 40 seconds to really listen to it.
You may just have to choose better music that would better suit a short video, because it doesn't matter if it goes with the music if the people watching get too bored to sit through the video. Was just trying to help.
