CFRC Aftermath...better late then never edit

Soooo in other words you arent interested in critique?

well for me, I couldn't tell if the music went with the drifting or not because I was too busy skipping through it after 40 seconds to really listen to it.

You may just have to choose better music that would better suit a short video, because it doesn't matter if it goes with the music if the people watching get too bored to sit through the video. Was just trying to help.

I know you were trying to help and I am not trying to dismiss what you said at all. Well honestly out of everyone that has seen it you guys are the minority( not that it makes your opinion mean less).

I am interested in a critique but saying dubstep sucks is as much of a critique as saying Hiphop sucks. Everything else you said was a valid point.

Thank you siiirhhh

I just re read my original post, sorry if I had a condescending tone or anything.

It was late when I wrote that and I think your piece was good for what it was. Dont let the critiques make you feel backed into a corner or like you have to defend your work.

^ Its all good guys, one of the most important things I have learned are 1: don't take shit personal, and 2: don't apologize for your art

Thanks guys!

If you ask for people to critique your work, then when they do, I wouldn't respond negating their critiques.

Besides the dubstep comment. I just hate that shit.

And don't take this the wrong way lol I'm more than willing to help if you ever need anything.

Also idk about Nikons but a lcdvf is going to be one of the best thing you can do for handheld shooting and better focusing.

You basically did dismiss what I said.

And I never said dubstep sucks. I like all music, but some music is better for videos than others. Maybe choose a different DUBSTEP song that works better with a video. If you tried to make it go with the music, and I'm telling you that all the slow parts were too long, maybe you should find music that has a better ratio so it makes a better video.

All I'm sayin.

its alright. You know about 7 years ago that woulda been an awesome video back in the day.

Im not negating their ideas, Im simply stating my case, like I said in my other post I want the critiques but Its a bit of a discussion no?

I'd love help, especially with how to stabilize the cam when hand shooting.

Again Im not dismissing anyone, just putting in my .2 cents in, and explaining my case. I took everyone opinions for what they were. I will try harder next time on the music selection since it seems to be lacking.

7 years ago I was in HS making game mods with hammer for source engine, not much on video or editing.

kids and their technology these days.

yeah I edited this on the gameboy emulator that I run on my HTC evo. ;p

LOL... I thought the music was fine but I get that dubstep is played out.

Other than that I think some people have brought up some great points. And you definitely have the "eye" for it, just have to work on technique which comes with experience.

My wife is a professional video producer for CBS. I can get some other tips from her and pm them to you as well if you want.

I was kidding.

You probably have all sorts of goodies.

LOL I was kidding as well, my machines are for 3D production

I'm a TD and I also create hard surface models/textures.

I am a Maya user ( for rigs) but I can use max ( though I fucking hate it, unless its for lighting or VRay)

I also deal with dynamics, Realflow, Vue, hair/ cloth systems etc.
We are also expanding our stuff to use cryengine 3. So Im learning that ( coming from UT3 editor CE3 is a bitch)

The place I work now is in Orlando and we do courseware for the armed forces. So basically we make training for em, and said training comes with 3D movies on the training they get from the courses we provide.

So here I mainly do rigs for mocap and models. At home I freelance as a TD for anything.

What school are u going to? In SFL one of the only schools that has a decent program for animation is AI ( or so I think).

Full sail online.

But they are letting me transfer over to the orlando classes in a month or two.

I am self taught alot, most of what they are teaching I already know, and its frustrating because they are making me use their keyboard shortcuts which is fucking annoying.

Things I know already; Lightwave, Houdini, Zbrush, Maya and 3DS, Cinema 4D, I use blender on occasion. All sorts of video editing stuff too; Sony Vegas, Adobe After Effects, Illustrator too.

Thats what is on my toolbar, Im sure I am missing some stuff. I honestly only want the degree so I can actually get a decent job. I know a good bit. My animation isnt so hot, but Im learning. The dynamics are just overwhelming with certain things. I just started using Houdini and I am so frequently lost its amusing.

I honestly want to end up in the movie biz. Pixar, dreamworks, disney animation.

Also let me add my apology for even implying I knew more than you. I had no idea.

Yeah I know what you mean, I went to AI in downtown and they made me do all their shit too. I use mudbox for sculpting, I never really liked Zbrush that much to tell you the truth. Does FS let you transfer their credits to other schools? ( when I was looking at them, no school would take their credits for masters degree) so I went to AI instead. Hudini is stupid complex and rather unintuitive. I have used it and I dont even have a hang of it. What are you focusing on mainly? Nah man dont worry about it, I learn new shit everyday, even when I think I know alot BAM! something new.

Mainly environment stuff and effects. I can sculpt well in Zbrush, but I swear it hates me, it literally has a vendetta to delete things when Im not looking.

They dont transfer credits because its a condensed course. Its like a monthly setup, 21 months for a bachelors. Every four weeks its a new course, etc.

I tried to play around in Houdini the other day, using metaballs for a simple logo, nope. lmao. It literally sent me a link to tutorials. Talk about insulting rofl.

I personally use Lightwave for animation purposes. but most of my 3d stuff is done in Cinema 4d or 3DS. I think C4D is just easier interface. Autodesk stuff is scary the first thousand times you open it.

I literally taught myself most if not all of what I know. One tutorial at a time.

Dude you should try Mudbox for sculpting. It has almost 99% identical to the maya interface and even if you dont know maya it takes about 20 min to learn it. What are you focusing on if you want to go into the movie business (disney pixar etc)

Cinema and Houdini are mostly used by the news and TV industry along with AE and Premiere.
I had an interview a while back for channel 23 as a VFX artist but they wanted more AE stuff. Meh it worked out ok in the end.

I'll check out mudbox for sure.

Probably sculpting and character design. I am familiar with rigging and weighting as well.

I just always get sidetracked by super pretty effects and things that require weeks of render time. Even though I dont think I would enjoy that for a career. Which is why I always come back to character orientation and things associated. I honestly dont know enough where my place would fall as a job or selection but I am severely biased into Zbrush and sculpting in general.

Environment building is also intriguing.

To be honest I really dont like after effects. Its annoying to me. Maybe I should spend more time in it, but Id rather not lmao.
