Cheap paint job(not rattle can). . .

Well, I got this from Club4AG and wanted to share the wealth. It's a cheap way to paint a car with good results but takes patience. I would say its perfect for drift cars, very cheap so it won't make you think twice when drifting it because of an expensive paint job. I just wonder who was the first person to try this sort of paint job on their own car.

hmmm interesting i wanna see someone here try it
i tried it on a hood. It definetly works and prob look all profesional after more sanding and buffin up. The innovative technique of the paintjob is that you're using rollers to paint the car....but you still have to do all the body work, prepping, priming, sanding, masking etc etc etc ontop of having the adequate enviroment

you want the roller to be almost dry of paint to make thin layers of paint and avoid blobs

damn zack is gonna have to kill u cuz u let out his dirty little secret

We started doing that on my daily. So far we did two layers of paint and we're letting the car dry overnight. Tomorrow we wetsand and more layers of paint..... wetsand.... and so on.

We first started by painting a fender with a layer of paint and wet sanding to see how it would come out. Then we sanded the rest of the car and went at it.

We can already tell that the color is stunning and it actually shines, unlike rattle can jobs. Looks like the NSX's championship white :)

Wholy **** does this mean... no more ugly drift cars?

I'm getting a professional paintjob on my daily in the next few months but it might be worth it for a temp job... I would like to see your guys paintjobs once they are finished.

keep rollin rollin rollin roollin rollin...well anyways i think i will do this. what kind of paint did u guys get and where from? also wehre can i get that mineral spirits, and the ratio of mineral spirits to paint? anyone wanna help???

Not too much progress made today. Had too much fun yesterday, woke up late today..... worked for a couple of hours (1 person working alone sucks.... takes 3x longer). Did a 3-4th layer of coat of the front end of the car. The rest of the car has 2 coats so far and wet sanding, ready to paint again.

Tomorrow it'll hopefully be as productive as yesterday and we'll be done.

Havent been paying as much attention to the car as I would like to but real life is calling. Jorge and I got anxious and finished the front end. There is orange peel however we just figured we'll wet sand it off progressively as we wash the car later on. You cant really tell it's there unless you look really close.

We just put the front end together quickly to get an idea and here's the turnout. We will clean and line up everything soon.

We followed the instructions from the guy with the Charger..... we mixed the paint with mineral spirits. The paint becomes very water-like so the layers of paint are very thin. You have to be very careful when you are wet sanding or you'll strip the whole layer off.

Sounds like someone might be trying this out first hand. I might be interested in doing this to my hatch if the results are good.

The results can be perfect, no doubt about it. The problem comes down to your patience. Jorge and I rushed the front end because we were impatient. We will progressively wet sand the car as time goes by to try to minimize the orange peel on the hood.

I met a guy outside M&L the other day with a R33 S14 who had tried it, looked decent but was seriously in need of a wet sand... I would like to see a finished product that had been properly wetsanded because i'm seriously considering doing this to the front of my coupe untill I get a professional paintjob in a few months.
