I would say yes, just because thats the OG Real deal way they are supposed to look.

BUT they still look great droopy.

We cropped my female boxers ears and i always liked the way she looked.

IMO, i would only do it if you know the dog can handle the stitches and you have the money... When we cropped my dogs ears, the vet gave us one of the radar dishes to put around her neck so she wouldnt scratch at the stitches. Next morning we had to take her back to the vet to get a few stitches touched up. We got home and i convinced the fam to let me remove the radar, and she forgot about the ears and we had no other issues after that first incident.

Something to consider aswell; make sure your vet is knowledgable on ear cropping. Drifferent breeds of dogs have different style crops. You wont see a dane with pit style ears, etc...

yeah get him nudtered ...sp? its a must, unless you want puppies obv.

A must!? I hate people that blindly advocate neutering. I can show you plenty of personally known dogs that are not neutered and are not over-weight and dont hump everything. It all about how you treat and train the dog.

I obviously do not condone neutering for no good reason. Females are much more understandable as they bleed and make messes, can attract unwanted, aggressive males, and are more apt to escape to get cut up, etc... But you have a male on a proper diet with some common sense training and he will be no better/aggressive/hornier than a neutered dog. PLUS, if your dog has papers and is healthy, you have the potential to help the breed along if you find a worthy female. No mess on your part, you usually can get a few hundred just by letting your male be a stud, not to mention pick of the litter if you care.

Dont crop the ears. Not because Im a girl and i think that the natural way looks cuter, but because its the NATURAL way. Dogs have become what they are today through breeding and evolution. Has there ever been a dog to have "naturally cropped" ears? no. Its because it is unnecessary for their survival. How would you like it if someone decided to change something on you and you had no choice? One example is circumcision. Where some guys are happy with it, other wish their parents hadn't done it to them. And considering the dog wont look at a dog with cropped ears and think to itself "oh man! I want ears like that" why would you make that decision for it? Why put the dog through some pain for your own satisfaction? the dog is there to be your best friend and companion. In the long run, why will the dog's ears matter? what benefit will you get from it?

not only that, but I believe dogs with cropped ears are more prone to getting ear infections and such like that because its an open warm environment that is unprotected. the floppy ears atleast protect a little bit from when they roll around in dirt and play and be a dog.

DONT DO IT.

EDIT: I have desperately wanted a dog my whole life. Unfortunately, while I'm still being supported by my parents during the time I'm in school, they refuse to let me have a dog. To see someone able to get such a loving animal and then want to cause pain to it just for his own satisfaction is just sickening. I would be so grateful to have that Dane you have. Floppy ears and all.

All up to you Pancho. Do it if u like it. Guarantee with his ears cut, no ones going to try and get into your house or yard when they see that guy.

see thats the thing I love the way Danes look with chopped ears.. And I have known my vet my whole life so i asked her to show me some of her work shes done with danes and she had a whole stack of pictures out of the 20 something Danes shes done only one looked like crap cause the owner didnt bring him back to get the taping done after surgery. the money is not whats bothering me really i dont mind forking over the 500 bucks to do it but the recovery time has me worried she told me the post opp is whats important making sure hes wrapped right and his radar is on when it needs to be, recovery time she said can be any where from a month to six so i dunno if i wanna have a pup with a radar for 6 months =( (worst case).. so i have a week or so to figure out what im going to do.

Except that those women get to CHOOSE to do that to themselves.

Most woman who get implants are pressured by their significant others to get them, but dogs in this case can't tell u whether they want to do it or not, so its up to the owners to CHOOSE whatever he wants to do with the dog, its like feeding it Pedigree or Publix Brand, dogs gonna live life with what he has.

well there is no proof that cropping ears will increase ear infections there is arguments for the complete opposite, and it sucks to be in your shoes to have to depend on your parents so much one day when you grow up you will get to make your own decisions.

It is not right.

the food example is a shitty example. food generally doesnt hurt a dog. we're talking about surgery, and stiches, and pain pills, and a radar thing on its head so the dog is uncomfortable. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT??

Cause the dog is yours and I think if its your dog and you want to do something to your dog, you should be able to do it, regardless of what people think. Pancho, do it bro, people have dogs as companions and as protectors, no one is gonna step foot in your house or yard unwanted when they see that dog. DO IT.
