DOT approved exhaust?

Seeing as there are no emissions in Florida..... any exhaust is legal.

I saw someone with a straight pipe 3" on an N/A that opens up to a 5" tip. With a silencer that thing was still stupid loud... but I dont recall him ever getting in trouble for it.
 
I got in trouble once because of a "modified exhaust" on my old SR5. It was a 2.25 inch straight pipe with a Apex'i GT Spec style muffler out the back. Sounded mad nice, just kinda loud. On my 4AG, I have a stock cat and a Flowmaster with no tip or muffler at the exit. Just a pipe (looks like ***, but I gonna do something nice with it). It's not too loud on the low end, but when my T-VIS hits, it gets loud. I am installing a test pipe soon because I am not crazy about the actual sound it makes, and also I need some power. But not all cops are on the look out for that. So don't worry too much.
 
im asking cuz...I already got a ticket and need to go to court soon....so I have to get a receipt that a bought something eles that said it was DOT approved.
 
gezze i only think that you can get a ticket cause of the decibls that it makes not weather its fumes are ok or not..
 
contact the manufacturer and ask them for documentation stating that the exhaust has been tested and approved for normal street use (aka street legal). if it has been approved by all 50 states tell the cop to blow you in court.
 
that's a waste. You still have to pay even if you change it. Just pay the 45 bucks and put something that is not flashy and super loud. I have run around with my stock exhaust with the muffler cut off for like a year and never got into any trouble. It's definately the look of a canister style muffler that gets the cops attention.
 
yea if you would have seen my last exhaust it was stock looking but one of the loudest ever...mady my inline 5 sound like a domestic v8. Just running a straight pipe from the downpipe to a resanator and a stock tip. Got pulled over once in miramar and told the cop that I had a hole in the exhaust and he just let me go.

haha, i did the same thing when i had my civic...except my muffler really did have a hold in it , but i chnaged it to a muffler somewat like the Apexi-Dual N1. cop really had no reason to pull me over anyways, but since it looked flush and stock, he didnt really give me a problem...

That's not true! There are no more mandatory emissions testings but there are still emissions laws. I got a ticket last year for my exhaust being too loud and if they catch you without a cat you're in trouble. My FHP buddy still has to drive around with a mirror on a stick to look under cars for cats (although he admits to never using it).
 
yea where as florida doesnt have emissions or inspections they can still hit you with a disturbance ticket if they really want to be a ****. like that guy in miramar when he tried giving me a ticket.
 
If they really wanted to they can give you a road side emissions test and still give you a ticket. It's federal law. We just don't need a sticker to drive around saying we are smog legal.
 
i got tryd for my muffler befor but then they let me go for other reasons cause they were tryn to pin me n racing one nigth when i tryn to lineup with sum1 :lolhittin

haha, that mirror on a stick is not for looking for cats, it's for looking at pussies
 
just do what i do and write up a bill of sale and tell the judge you sold the car and pay the court fee lol

it's either you fix the problem for the ticket, or you get rid of the car. I "get rid of the car" most cases. even for bald tires tickets lol... works everytime for me. poor juan though, he's bought like 8 of my cars according to the courthouse.. and 1 of them he bought 3 times hahaha <3 u juan!!
